Looking at the application progress thread, the processing times seem to be all over the place. Could this be because the renewal application times differ from the "new" application times (i.e., renewals probably take less time to process)? Should the tracking spreadsheet be revised to differentiate between renewal applications and new applications?
It would be interesting to track those in parallel. I have my renewal pending right now. Submitted it a week or so ago. It was marked "accepted" the next business day, and had a NICS number on it the day after that. No movement in the week since, but just seeing that activity in the first 48 hours suggests that renewals are (as one might expect) a much shorter trip.

Was assigned to an investigator today by email. It says “Your assigned background investigator will be contacting you to schedule the required in-person applicant interview to complete your investigation”….. was this standard for everyone or has anyone had to go in person? Read a lot about them just maybe calling references but never heard about in person

That’s old boilerplate from before Bruen. No excuse for them not updating that message, but don’t fret. No in person interview, though maybe a call if there’s something really wonky with your application. Nobody’s references get contacted.

Does anyone know how many permits have been issued in 2023 so far? I know MSP gave a number to the legislators a couple months back. I'm wondering if things are slowing down or not.

Take the latest permit (not application) number you can find and subtract about 114,000 and you will be close.

    About 28,600 this year.

I received my Maryland permit this past Saturday and immediately applied for a Pennsylvania permit. I got an email this morning that I am approved and had to schedule an appointment to pick it up. I'm going to get it next Monday at the York County satellite Sheriff's Office.

This would be the kind of thing you would contact that investigator to correct.

There should be contact info in that email.

Oops....put app in February not April...
The excitement got the best of me. I have a very......checkered....past .no convictions but some pretty heavy/serious charges mostly BS . Including not being able to own a firearm for 10 years .the police had confiscated my guns years ago very very long story.i remember getting a letter in the mail 10 years later stating I coul pick my firearms up from the police...I was like wtf...so I did. Then I went and bought some long guns from various dealers . Then I did my hql and got my first "legit" pistol in my name. Then I did collectors license APP. (NEVER HEARD BACK ON THAT ONE) this has all felt like a dream. It was too good to be true .I just knew my concealed carry would get turned down. Low and behold nope! Now just waiting on card in the mail. Next on list is to get my FFL license and do transfers
