Prosecuting police officers for cursing in the course of their duty would be asinine

My issue is the process of running my gun instead of just my permit during a traffic stop. Am I going to read the serial number from it to the officer? Hand it to him? The officer take it off of me? Too much handling of a gun on the side of the road.

I'm in this boat. The gun is perfectly safe remaining in my holster, untouched. And that's exactly where I prefer it stay. But what does one do when the "officer safety" card is pulled?

Production of a W&C permit should be sufficient to quash any legitimate "officer safety" concerns

Agreed. Just going off the alleged directives to run the gun to verify registration. It has to be handled unless you memorize all your serial numbers.

Even then your memory isn't proof

Last thing I'm looking to do is touch my gun when I'm stopped by the police. That's a good way to get shot

That should be completely unnecessary also.

I always assumed that when I got pulled over and the cop put my license plate or license number into there computer, it returned a list of "registered" firearms. I figure having the w&c permit info on there would be a no brainer also.

right. The guy from PTP guns posted a video a few weeks back getting pulled over by MSP and they took his gun back to their cruiser. If this is the way forward, I see a lot of misunderstandings coming.

I drive vehicles that are not registered to me.
Actually, so does my wife as her car is in my name.

No, the databases are completely separate and requires a separate phone call.

But again, there is NO LAW IN MD WITH ANY CONNECTION TO WHAT GUN ANYONE WITH A PERMIT CARRIES. It is irrelevant.

I wish I knew the inside track on whether or not the county police department has learned this yet. A really good potential lawsuit.

This is the way I see it going down:
Your pulled over by officer Dew-rite for a tail light out.
It is found you are a permit holder, and carrying.
He ask for your weapon to "run the numbers".
Just as you are removing your weapon and clearing it, to hand to Ofc Dew-right,, Barney is walking up on the passenger side and sees you racking a slide (to clear it) and he ventilates you.

So decline his request. Its not lawful and you aren't being searched.

Not a fan of "stacking" review boards with the uninformed. I'm fine with a minority presence of people essentially ignorant with what may go on in a given profession, but certainly they should not have a deciding majority. I wouldn't trust the average MoCo citizen with the ability to accurately detemine its gender, and the politically excitable ones, with their agendas sild them by the media and its masters, are orders of magnitude more problematic.

Having afew on board should be sufficient to overcome the vested interests. If an obvious cover-up is going down, it would be good to be informed; otherwise, some level of trust in professionalism should be accommodated. If there's a question, a reasonable attempt to verify standards is indicated.

The "Blue Wall" is what caused civilian accountability review boards. If you don't adequately "police" your profession you will end up with outside supervision.

As I have been viewing these post lets just realizes that we are on this site to have a brotherhood for gun owners in Maryland and preserving those rights without any political views. The media is here on both sides for misinformation and lies. Stay smart make your own decisions for actions and live with the results. God is great

" Registered to You " isn't in the law , and is BS .

Running s/n to see if stolen is potentially legitimate , but overkill as an automatic response without otherwise suspicion.
