I get the whole not wanting to climb tree with a loaded weapon. There are things you could do to safely get a loaded weapon in the tree. use a pull up line and attach it to the butstock so the muzzle is pointed down. Make sure the safety is on and no magazine. While this isnt the best it can be done. If you get In the stand early before hunting hours the noise of putting one in the chamber isnt that big of a deal Considering all the noise one makes getting to and in the stand.
Yea, was thinking the same. The brief 5 minutes of potential noise getting up in your stand with what you need for the day should be irrelevant a few minutes after your settled.

I have a 450 Bushmaster. Both of my kids use it to take deer. Never had to track one. Closest was 65 yards and farthest was 125.

Other stuff may work as well but I can’t imagine anything that works better for deer.

I have never been overly quiet getting in and out of my stands. I have had deer come into me with in 5 minutes of getting in. I have even been talking on the phone and had a doe come in to me. I asked person to hold on, put down my phone picked up my 209x50 pistol shot the doe then carried on the conversation. deer are somewhat use to being around people so some noise doesn’t bother them much.

Shhh... OMCHamlin might come in and mouth off to you too.
Honestly you can kill a deer with a well placed .22. 12ga works, 20ga does too. So many ways to kill a deer. I was hunting on public land once and I saw a deer go buy with a dude chasing after it with a knife. Not sure what that was about but it was funny.

I've been using an ar in 450 since they opened up straight wall cartridges. Charging it's a little noisy but no worse than a fat guy climbing a tree in the dark. I usually rack a round before I get to my tree then safety on and muzzle down pulling it up with a line. I've never had to track a deer very far. It's pretty loud with the muzzle brake that came with it. Other deer in the group have always seemed pretty confused which way they should run.

Yep, certain places that is absolutely true. My lease is in a preservation trust surrounded by nothing. They do not see, smell, or hear humans on their turf very often. I can go in the woods behind my house and hit a deer with a frisbee for fun if so inclined as they are more habituated to people. The deer down there are skittish to any smell or noise so like to reduce them where I can.
