According to 9-1A-01 your cellphone would actually be considered a Video Lottery Terminal by the definition of law if you use it for any gaming.

    Video lottery terminal
(dd)(1) “Video lottery terminal” means any machine or other device that, on insertion of a bill, coin, token, voucher, ticket, coupon, or similar item, or on payment of any consideration:

    (i) is available to play or simulate the play of any game of chance in which the results, including the options available to the player, are randomly determined by the machine or other device; and

(ii) by the element of chance, may deliver or entitle the player who operates the machine or device to receive cash, premiums, merchandise, tokens, or anything of value, whether the payout is made automatically from the device or in any other manner.

I feel bad for the restaurants that will no longer get my business
Me, we really don't eat out much, and when we do, I usually drink so...

That said, changing a law will not necessarily change my behavior. I may go back to my old ways...

    4. Special Purpose Areas (private or public ownership included)

-a location licensed to sell or dispense alcohol or cannabis for on-site consumption (most restaurants).

    -a stadium

    -a museum

-a location being used for an “organized sporting or athletic activity” where three or more individuals are competing in a sport or athletic activity together as part of the same league. Exception is made for sporting activities which customarily involve firearms

-a location being used for a live theater performances

-a location being used for musical concerts or performances for which members of the audience are required to pay or possess a ticket to be admitted

-a location being used for a fair or carnival

    -racetracks

-video lottery facilities, including casinos and a faclity with terminals for any game of chance, as defined in § 9-1A-01 of the State Government Article

-within 100 yards of a place where a public gathering, demonstration, or an event that requires a permit from the local governing body is being held, if signs posted by a law enforcement agency conspicuously and reasonably inform members of the public that the wearing, carrying, and transporting of firearms is prohibited

Looks like the only ones who will be able to go anywhere with any semblance of protection will be actors and politicians with private or govt sanctioned ARMED protectors.

Just think how brazen the real criminals will be as they prey upon Casino patrons leaving with their winnings, not that they don't already do this.
None of which I will ever visit. My fvck fields are barren.

Only the parameters for obtaining a permit, not the restrictions on carrying.

as I read it the law don’t affect preexisting permits just new or renewals after 10/1/23.

    Does not:

-Affect permits retroactively. Only applies from 10/1/2023 onward to new applications and renewals.

So looks like Open carry goes away too..

What if mini outrider wanted you to take her to one of those venues?

Would it be 'I'll get the tickets today's, or 'oooh, we're afraid Bluto'

    Everywhere, except metal detectors
She knows better. I don't do well in crowds of drunken music goers. The last one I went to, Mini was in mommy's belly and I got into a fight that night. Afraid? ;)

What historical analog can Fuhrer Waldsrikkker provide that shows carry in a place that served alcohol was prohibited?

    Answer none.

Ok so what does this last line mean? They must be figuring some parts will be shot down.

”A severability clause in the bill protects the law as a whole should any part of it be struck as unconstitutional”
If a bill is passed without a severability clause and the courts strike down just a single paragraph of the new law, the entire law falls. All of the sections of the law live or die together. If there is a severability clause and the courts strike down a single paragraph, only that paragraph dies, and the rest of the law remains in effect.

There are probably paintings in the National Gallery from Founding Era showing people openly carrying muskets in taverns.

Speaking of crowds, did you make it to Essen Room, Outrider? If so, I am sorry I missed saying hi to you.
You sat next to me(at least for a little while). :lol2:

That kind of crowd, I get along with just fine.

ETA: I just looked at the pics. You were on the other side of Threeband, who was sitting on my left. He had to leave early so you were next to me and we talked a good bit.

I really don’t feel like emails, phone calls, and even testimony makes a difference. Well at least not for this bill. Is there anything that can stop this from passing?

Of course the politicians stand together for other bills saying “this bill was drafted due to the emails and phone calls”. If that is true are we just not following through? Not calling or emailing?

I hope a TRO is applied if it passes so it can be found unconstitutional before it hurts anyone.

Just a few questions on the efficacy of these or any new LAWS.
What is it that is in our Prisons and Jails?
    Criminals

    Ok question 2.
    WHY are they called Criminals?

Because they don't obey the LAWS and get CAUGHT and SENTENCED.

    Question 3.

    Do Criminals Obey Laws?

NO, that is why they call them criminals.

    Question 4.

Since all these laws are supposed to improve things and hence is the reason for them in the first place ( according to the Libs and MOMS etc.
If 1000000000000000000000000000000 new laws get passed making guns, drugs, murder, car jacking, SQUEEGEEING illegal, will jails and prisons still exist?

    NO, because laws. Dontcha know
