Reportedly Waldstrikker is presenting friendly amendments from Republicans on JPR. We'll see exactly what those are

Thanks. Yeah, gun bill debates and floor amendments now. I missed the earlier stuff. Talking about adding readily available or reckless endangerment to the storage language. So it softens it some, so you don't have to have the gun stored separate from ammo.

Just don't have it readily accessible to a minor or prohibited person. Its better than the S show is without the amendment.

I missed what was said on SB1. Special ordered for later. Were amendments offered? Adopted?

On safe storage, I might have just missed it (problem with working and listening in), was that amendment on readily accessible adopted? Or are amendments like that not voted on until final reader?

Just curious how that works. Amendments are offered, if no one objects it is adopted for consideration in final reader and voted on separately then? Or was the senate voting to adopt amendments now? I wish I could have listened closer.

I get it. BTW, the movie theater ban is gone in the latest version. In stead they have ban on live theater. with every edition we have been able to pare it back. And amendments are still to come. Still a turd and still reeks, but I hope to flush a lot of it down the toilet in court.
Since you're limited in how many specific restrictions you can take on at once, would it make sense to go after the disproportionate criminal penalties for carrying outside permit limits as a way of "defanging" a bunch of restrictions at once, even if they have their own seperate ( often lesser) penalties? If those other location-specific penalties aren't disqualifying, they're a lesser problem than the core penalty for 4-203.

Just looked at the amendment for SB858. It is a significant softening of the law. Now the firearm AND ammunition must be readily accessible to be a violation. Still a problem. But no longer makes it a crime to have guns in your home unless ammo and guns are at all times locked up separately.

Too bad, they posted a no gun sign.

I do wonder. I've never paid attention to no gun signs anywhere. Sure, I've noticed some every once in awhile. Based on experiences in other states, what do you think the likelihood is that suddenly they are going to be plastered everywhere? Versus just occasionally seeing them going up?

Theater carry ban not being in the bill makes little difference if AMC and all the others post no gun signs at all of their movie theaters. And I'd imagine that's not the kind of stuff they are going to post on their websites. So you get to buy a ticket, show up and now you have to go back and lock it in your car (I hope in a cable locked box) if you want to see the movie. Or leave and go through hassle and expense for nothing.
The smack is full tilt boogie so I hope you don't take offense, but another option is Jimmy crack corn, buy a ticket, and watch the movie packing iron

    Hopefully with contraband Chuckles

Also, say you have a hunting cabin, and hunt with minors, we all want to be safe, but having guns and ammo locked up constantly is not normal. It’s still problematic, but the work being done on this is much appreciated.

They adopted the inadvertent printing/exposure amendment and a few other small ones. The alcohol amendment wasn't presented with the other friendly ones. So they half way told the truth

Is it in the amended language that is posted in the regular session scroller on the side? Or is that just the 2nd reader language? Are they considering more amendments or debate later? I see it was special sessioned until later. Or is that only for the final vote after being enrolled in 3rd reader?

EDIT: Never mind, I see they are debating amendments now and they are being posted.

This all is only if you have minors or a prohibited person in the house, correct?

I guess I must have lived with and been the devil since loaded guns have always been laying around every house I ever lived in from infancy to now and kids were always around and, just imagine, nothing happened. Oh the horror

I lock my guns up for safety. Not because I am told too. I will change none of my behavior regardless of what they pass

    Same goes for SB1.

In the floor debate, Wally stated it's ok to break the law when acting in self-defense or defense of others. So... carry where you want, if you use it, no foul?

Amazing how an inanimate object never jumped up and hurt you, right? Also amazing what raising kids with discipline will accomplish? I like you grew up with guns in the house, accessible and ready for use. I would NEVER had touched them without my father’s explicit permission (or an actual honest-to-god emergency.)

I have two small children. Even though I am exposing them to gun safety rules early and often, I make the choice to lock up my guns in the safe unless they are on my hip. However, that is MY choice and I would never presume to make that choice for another person or their family.

The administrative, regulatory, intrusive state oozes more into our lives every day…and it seems like my fellow citizens not only welcome it - but they encourage it.

Yes. They always like when it appears to be a Bi Partisan bill that passed. And now will those R senators be expected to vote for the full bill on 3rd Reader - you betcha.

I appreciate what Senator Bailey is doing. I doubt the dems are going to allow anything he is doing for us.
