Sounds like you've never been there. It's basically a fairly high density, pre-war suburban area, with some very nice, upscale-appearing neighborhoods. I would expect it to be a lot safer than a suburban shopping mall.

As a carpenter, I've worked on some nice houses in the general area. I haven't been on the Morgan State campus, but I've driven past it many times while working in the area and making Home Depot runs for work materials. The Home Depot is at a somewhat sketchy shopping center, but I don't think it's an especially life-threatening area.

It's wise to be alert to potential threats both there and in my own "safe" Carroll County neighborhood.

I've been doing the same, and to my own surprise, I've been carrying everywhere every day since I got my permit.

    A.B.C. -- "Always Be Carrying."

Second prize is an auto assisted knife. Third prize is you're dead.

Also agreed with your post. As Baltimore goes, that area is better than many.

:sad20::lol: Well, there you go, get them pork chop britches on and get out there in that wolf’s den, Threeband bets you’ll be okay…

    That's because Threeband is right.

I ride my bike over there...bicycle. It's 4 miles from my house and I go visit the Frederick Douglass statue and call him Freddy. He's a great man and an extremely important man in American history. What were we talking about?

Don't put yourself down. He whittles his clocks one gear at a time just like the rest of us. He wouldn't call you that if he didn't think you're all right.

Prohibited on school property and state owned buildings and grounds. I would say prob not.

School property only applies to elementary, middle, and high schools, not colleges, universities, etc.

Morgan State is NOT government (State of Maryland) owned property.

    These are current and relevant.

The bill never made it out of committee and thus never became law.

It’s one thing if it’s Columbia mall or something, but not where carrying is legally prohibited. Your insurance won’t cover you if nothing else.
Nothing in State Statute prohibits carrying at ANY university or College in Maryland.

I would rather stay out of jail in a preventable situation. I have been placed in a situation where I had to fight off armed assailants without my weapon. As far as this situation if I think a place is that dangerous that I feel the need to knowingly break the law by carrying I simply won’t go. If you think for a minute that you are not going to jail and loosing the ability to carry forever in that situation I feel for you… A self defense claim might not even float since you committed a crime 1st. No thank you.
You need to stop with the BGOS and actually read and understand the laws of Maryland.
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing in state statute preventing carrying on a college campus or university. If it is college/univerisity policy, they can only ask you to leave.

Could have looked it up himself. The forum will continue to be inundated with "can I carry here" threads
And if you follow the information in post #5 you would be following incorrect information.

Actually you should read the comment I replied to so you understand the context for my response…

From Wiki, which is of course flawless:

Morgan remained a private institution until 1939. That year, the state of Maryland purchased the school in response to a state study that Maryland needed to provide more educational opportunities for its black citizens, as higher education was still segregated. Morgan College became Morgan State College. In 1975, Morgan State added several doctoral programs and its board of directors petitioned the Maryland Legislature to be granted university status.

    Yes it is.
Not maintained by Maryland General Services, but rather the Maryland University system, as such it is NOT State property as defined by state statute for carry.
