Same. I'll probably take fire for this but I don't care, lol.

I come from a Jewish family and I personally would not have worn one - I find it to be in poor taste. Comparing restricting 2A rights to slaughtering millions of Jews is sort of a joke. Yes, I understand the history. Please, no lectures about " if the jews had been armed, etc." I know. I've thought about it too and I very much understand the point. I completely understand why the symbol was appropriated for the group and I am well aware that no one that wore one did so with any antisemitic intent.

But I also judge those sort of things though by how the room or the target audience will receive it. For example, for that audience, talking in opposition to SB1, speaking about how it will affect our right to protect our families, our businesses, and our communities, would be more impactful than talking about Jefferson and the blood of patriots and tyrants and the liberty tree. No one cares. I mean I care, personally. But they won't care, and they're the ones making the decisions. You have to play to the room. And for those that say "Their minds are made up and it doesn't matter what we say," I don't believe that is 100% true, and I have to trust Mark Pennak when he says it matters.

I look at wearing the star the same way. None of the legislators are going to be swayed by that. 99% of the public isn't going to be swayed by that. If they think anything of it, they'll think that it is in poor taste, and give less consideration to the people wearing them.

Then again, some people have different tactics. Some want the "wow" factor, or the shock and awe effect. I prefer to be more tactful and target what I say, what I do, and how I appear, to achieving my ultimate goal. It looks like the group yesterday was great and I'm upset I couldn't make it, but when I was there in 2013, there were plenty of people whose whole purpose was to be as offensive and disruptive as possible. I don't particularly care for that tactic, but I understand it.

Also, my history is hazy, but didn't Novus Collectus take a lot of fire and ultimately get banned/leave MDS for a similar stunt? I can't remember the particulars.
I believe frosh got a letter describing him as a "bagel brained jew" in that one.

I fully support eruby's choice in this. I just wish he stayed there, forced them to remove him, and made them demonstrate what tyrants they are. It would have possibly had more effect if he wore a kippah at thr same time.

Governments killed over 100,000,000 people in the 20th century after disarming them. This reality doesn't seem as relevant as protecting your business to some, but it very much is and needs to be said.

Jews and Gentiles Are Saved by Faith Galatians 2:15-17 We are all one and the same by the creator- GOD

15 Indeed, we are Jews by birth and not “Gentile sinners,” as they are called. 16 Yet we know that a person is put right with God only through faith in Jesus Christ, never by doing what the Law requires. We, too, have believed in Christ Jesus in order to be put right with God through our faith in Christ, and not by doing what the Law requires. For no one is put right with God by doing what the Law requires. 17 If, then, as we try to be put right with God by our union with Christ, we are found to be sinners, as much as the Gentiles are—does this mean that Christ is serving the cause of sin? By no means!

I agree and I support his choice and right to do it also, I'm just saying it wouldn't be for me.

For example, why not walk around with nooses around our necks? Surely if the African Americans had been armed they would have been able to escape slavery, right? How would that go over?

I completely understand and agree with you about disarming populations and that's one of many reasons why I'm a staunch 2a supporter. I'm just saying the optics don't really work, for me at least. Just my .02.

I couldn’t be more supportive of my very good friend ERuby. Nor could I be more enthusiastic for Stu’s notion regarding solidarity.

Alias makes the point quite well imo.

I really hate when folks are involved in stolen valor. To me, it’s all the same.

Either you is be or you ain’t be. Not much in between. In this case, I am not Jewish.

The MGA once again showed their ass. They are a pitiful lot who make narcissists the world over look good. MD politicians seem to believe they are royalty which leaves the peons to tithe and bow and scrape. (I know that our MDS community deeply and profoundly loathe them and with very good reason. We get constant reminders as this situation proved yet again.)

The wearing of the yellow star is indeed emblematic. It’s powerful. I could no more bring myself to do it than I could have numbers tattooed inside my forearm. It just doesn’t feel right to me as I am a humble recovering Catholic not a Jew.

ERuby was wronged. That’s pretty clear. That our community might stand behind him says an awful lot…in a good way. THAT I can and will support.

I salute you all!! Some lawmakers need to brush up on their history. Maybe we can chip in and buy them an honorary membership to Jews for the Preservation of Firearms. Let us never forget those brave few who fought off evil in the Warsaw Ghettos. May they rest in peace forever as heroes.

I'm not Jewish. I have never worn/displayed such imagery. With that said, I fully support anyone's right to do so. It is a simple expression that is protected by the 1A, the religion or lackthereof of the person displaying it notwithstanding. Whether or not it is in good taste for a non-Jew to display such an image is an entirely different discussion. However as most of us understand, it being in good taste is not the point.

Those who forget or fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it. The Holocaust was only made possible because its victims were legally (not morally, of course) disarmed and outgunned. Laws designed to disarm citizens are repugnant to individual freedom and make horrors like the Holocaust a possibility, even in the enlightened post-racial paradise ( ) in which we find ourselves here in 2023.

Those who would take offense to being reminded of that have bigger problems than someone, even a non-Jew, displaying that image. I have never wanted to display it more in my life than today. Fvck tyrants, in all their shapes and forms. Even if they are Jewish.

All speech must be protected, even "hate" speech. If "hate" speech is not protected, no speech is protected. To be clear, I do not think eruby displaying that symbol was anywhere near hate speech. Is there an opposite of "hate" speech?

His comments on the Dutch, however, are a different matter entirely...

A star is 'Reborn' ... A concept of "Light" Wether yellow/gold, Black, Purple, or white. Stars represent shedding light on a thing.

The second amendment is the thing. Someone taking away the rights to the gun. The history of the gun takeaways, is the problem. The gold/yellow star of the Jew. Purple stars of others denied the right to the gun, then murdered by tyrants that took guns away from them.

So yes, support the yellow star. Its a symbol that represents a important right. The right to protect ones family and self.

Considering then Sen Brian Frosh back in 2010 sponsored a bill to designate firearm owners with "an approved handgun purchase designation" that didn't delineate between Jew and gentile I believe it's appropriate.

    FTA:

    From the law above:
"(C) The MVA shall issue a driver’s license with an approved handgun purchase designation or photographic ID with an approved handgun purchase designation."

The "approved handgun purchase designation" being discussed at the time was a yellow star imprinted on the mandatory drivers license or state issued ID IIRC.
This all needed to be in Stu's letter.

I don't see this as us equating our plight with the Jews during the holocaust, as that would be ignorant and insulting. It does, however, point out that the Democrats share some of the same dangerous ideas as totalitarian regimes in recent history. I don't think this should be a "look at me", it should be a "look at what you are doing" kind of symbol.

Yellow badges (or yellow patches), also referred to as Jewish badges (German: Judenstern, lit. 'Jew's star'), are badges that Jews were ordered to wear at various times during the Middle Ages by some caliphates, at various times during the Medieval and early modern period by some European powers, and from 1939 to 1945 by the Axis powers, including Nazi Germany. The badges served to mark the wearer as a religious or ethnic outsider, and often served as a badge of shame.[1]
    Read more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_badge

Others, however, wore the Star of David as a symbol of defiance against Nazi antisemitism, as in the case of United States Army private Hal Baumgarten, who wore a Star of David emblazoned on his back during the 1944 invasion of Normandy.[37] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_David

Unlike Nazi's, No one is going to make anyone wear a Star with a gun. I personally will not allow anyone to remove a star from the wearer, Or Remove the wearer from any public place.

I am a Jew...and while that doesn't define me as an American...I'm an American that happens to be Jewish but I'm not "Jewish-American" as I do not believe any adjective should precede "American" any more than "White", "Black", Asian", Hispanic" or any other modifier should take precedence over "American".

I don't believe that religion should enter into the political realm beyond being free to practice such free of governmental interference...BUT...this is a case where the government...or at least this official of the government...interjected religion into the governmental process and denied an American (who happened to be Jewish) his right to free expression and to be heard strictly because of his religion! It matters not his perception of what the citizen intended to convey as he used his power to deny the citizen of his rights simply because he didn't like it.

I say...educate the person who committed this denial of rights...educate him in a legal way that makes it clear his behavior is and was unacceptable in the nation and he works for the people and not the other way around. His education should come in the legal fashion...lawsuit...ethics violations...public exposure...he and the others in the MGA would be made to understand they're not rulers but public servants.
