I thought I had seen a list somewhere of outdoor ranges in Maryland but I can't seem to find it.

I'm a member at the Delmarva Sportsman's range in Sudlersville. I'm picking up some friends in DC and would like to take them shooting somewhere nearby.

Are there any "open to the public" ranges from the area north of DC then going east on 50 towards Annapolis? I'd like to find something within a half hour of DC if possible. Preferably north to east of DC rather than getting south or west into Virginia.

Not quite the direction you are going, but not too terribly far (just the opposite direction), there is a 100 yard indoor range available at Guntry in Owings Mills. A bit further out, Hap Bakers at the Carroll County dump has public rifle and pistol ranges, though they aren't open every day so it depends on the day and it is a bit further away. Freestate Gun Range up around White Marsh allows rifles up to 7.62x39, I've only shot pistols there so I don't know if their maximum distances are 25, 50, 75 or 100 yard ranges. Cindy's Hot Shots will let you fire nearly any rifle caliber (though anything more than .300 Win Mag requires notice), but only have 25 yard lanes. It is probably the closest public range to Annapolis (Glen Burnie).

Actually between DC and Annapolis, you have the Maryland Small Arms Range in Upper Marlboro. It is an indoor range, mostly with 25 yard pistol ranges, but it does have a few rifle ranges to 50 yards (not 100, but in the area you are looking, there aren't many public ranges, if any, to that distance). It is between DC and Annapolis (though Cindy's above is probably closer to Annapolis). If you don't want to head out towards the Baltimore area, that may be your only choice in public ranges.

There are a number of private ranges in the area though, so maybe you'll get lucky and get an invite from a member in this thread.

Thanks for that input. Not exactly what I was hoping to find but I will certainly keep that info in mind.

All the ones in the area you called out are private/ members only except for MSAR and at 50yds that’s the longest of all indoor ranges in MD I believe except Guntry that was already called out.

Guntry is pretty pricy from what I've heard. 100 yard range is $50 per hour for non-members?

I guess it depends if you have more time or money. I'd like to check out peacemaker in WV. It is about the same distance as DSC. Anyone know how much peacemaker costs? Do they have steel targets on the range or can you bring your own?

Alas , what you were hoping to find , does not comport with what is actually available within your original parameters .
Within your geographical area . and walk in for the public , it's MSA with 50yds .
