Opening day of duck season, took the kids, saw lots of woody's couldn't get the mallards to commit, all in all a good morning.

On a sad note we lost 2 properties this year, one to being sold and another to someone in the club talking to the wrong person and someone came in and paid almost 3 times as much to rent it. we already picked up 1 new one we think is going to be awesome though.

I will get out for the first time this year in Delaware next weekend and then the following weekend.
New dog so we will shoot mergansers and Buffys this year.
Have a MD hunt with Chesapeake Outfitters just after Christmas which will probably be my only MD duck hunting

I've been out twice (Western zone). Saw a bunch of ducks the first time but nothing came close, so we moved a little the second time but had THICK fog all morning, and very little movement (that we could see). Had a pair of woodies fly right past our set but we couldn't see them until they were already over us.

Only me and my son went nobody else wanted to go. Lots of woodies early but couldn't drop them. Had a lot of mallards this year, hadn't had them here in years in these numbers. Got a band. Good day

Looks like your friends missed out on a beautiful ,awesome hunt.
I miss having access to great waterfowl property. I tried on Public but pretty much given up on it.
    Congrats

Nice job. I was supposed to go out in the morning but I have the stupid flu (or some variation). That means I'll miss the entire 2nd split.

Always look forward to your reports and pictures. We were worried about the river being a little too spicy for us today from all the rain so we went to PA to shoot pheasants.
Wild or pen raised pheasants? Have not hunted in PA for decades. Doves and pheasants is what I started on in PA many, many moons ago.

With the weather coming along, the ducks and geese might finally start to move down. Still not seeing many geese around me.

PA has a stocking program for pheasants

The river was up which help and hurt us, we were worried about the tide because it was supposed to be dead low @8 but we had plenty of water, but also the birds were able to go into the marsh further to hide. We saw them go into places they usually don't. We went down to the honga to brush out the blind last week and only saw buffle heads, I heard divers are staring to come in.

The weather to come should start pushing them down. Thing is, a couple decades ago they would usually be here in large groups, especially the geese. I went outside this morning in just a sweatshirt and barely even felt cold.

This is my first pheasant in PA. Most likely one from the stocking program. It was on a 100 acre farm that my aunt and uncle owned. The memories from those years are awesome. The farm is now a housing development that I refuse to go and even look at.

Nice A5. Is that a Brittany? We had one many years ago that was a good pointer but not a good retriever. We used to hunt grouse up in VT with that dog.
