Assholes are always tearing around my neighborhood. Not even worth calling BCPD. You get to be agitated (and cut off while driving btw) because they won't pursue because of the potential for a crash

This is what happens when there aren't any places to ride legally. Not saying what they did was OK or right, and I can't tell how reckless they were from the story, but where are they to go? If MD makes it impossible for you to ride legally, you become a criminal and you begin to care less about repercussions. Some of us can relate.
I don't remember reading in the Constitution where you have a right to have a dirt bike track in your neighborhood. Didn't see anything about it being ok to break a law just because. Imagine if they didn't have a gun range near them, oh wait, I forgot about Bloodymore. :sad20:

It is just like Mad Max the original. It will just get worse until the citizens have had enough and rebel against the lack of enforcement of the law.

I see them more often riding down Dorsey road, heading west. And see them on Quarterfield road too in Severn. Part of me enjoys watching them, for I was a hooligan on a dirt bike once, back in the day, though we had ample amount of desert close by.

But another part of me does get a little irritated, because they act like arseholes within normal vehicular traffic. I never did that.

Most irritating part though is we all know the cops won't do jack chit about it.

Not suggesting this... but a do it yourself spike strip can be made easily with a length of old garden hose and nails shoved through at alternating angles.
Doc, this is for use against people as an area denial device. For modern pneumatic tires you need hollow tubes to rapidly deflate the tires. I posted a homebrew basic layout above.

So many want less government involvement/special programs that result in more taxes, but you think MD should have public tracks at taxpayer cost for people to ride dirtbikes and atvs? Nope.. If you can't afford land to ride, or don't have family/friends with land go to an off-road park and there are some within driving distance but you'll need a trailer. Don't buy a dirtbike or atv and say well MD doesn't give me a free place to ride so I'll ride streets and trials not meant for motorized stuff. That's some stupid logic...

Are there trees around? Maybe someone just needs to hang up and dry their unmentionables on a wire clothesline across the trail at a certain height.

Back in the 70s, pretty much every Sunday my best friend and I would ride our street legal dual sport bikes (we called then Enduros back then) to a huge undeveloped area around Springfield/Newington. Probably not legal, but where we rode it wasn't posted. Hundreds of acres of sand, gravel, trails and whoop-de-doos. I sure miss those days, and would love to do it again if there were a legal and convenient place to ride trails.

Yep , Mr ed. Back when it was Friendship Airport there was a single 6 inch wide "trail that encircled the property. The police never bothered us , and we behaved ourselves when we had to cross asphalt.

Just trails. We have walking trails, bicycle trails and horse trails all over the place, they would just need to make one a dirt bike trail. Likely little to no cost difference. Just re-allocate what we already have.

Also regarding the original post, I didn't know the path was paved. Yeah, dirtbikes on dirt only.

(although I do think it's stupid dirt and mini bikes are illegal on the street when they can keep up with traffic, but we allow bicycles that also lack all the lights but take up most of the road and cause risky passing situations. but I am WAYYY off topic now!)

I myself am tired of the thug punks doing this illegal chit on the roads also. It started in the city and now spreading like a disease into the county. I am tired of hearing them in groups and wearing masks because they know its illegal. I only saw cops chase them once. They either get away or cops dont give chase. Well Ii myself had enough and took it into my own hands a few times this summer. Just letting know I am not putting up with it and they will think again coming down the road by my house being an ass and danger to others. I am tired of standing back and watching and being pissed at nothing done.

If it has to be punks, let it be white punks on dope
Enough with the segregation. I hope it’s a diverse group of punks who asked each others preferred pronouns before shenanigans ensued.

    A. Catching a motorcycle with a car , in the vicinity of woods or backyards is kind of random luck , without a buncha Ofc surreptitiously circling a stationary group of cyclists .

B . For most Depts , they have tight rules about initiating / continuing a persuit not involving a serious / violent felony , primarily for safety/ liability reasons .

If the persuee crashes into a school bus full of Nuns , the Department is the party with deep pockets that will be sued .

I can guarantee that there will be a cost difference to make a trail for dirt bikes/atvs, just for insuring them alone or paying out the lawsuits that would result.

Also, rail trails like the one that is the subject of this thread and many others are paid for, established and sometimes maintained by cycling organizations such as Rails to Trails.

Last, as someone else pointed out, the people doing this are unlikely to trailer their vehicles to a dedicated trail.

Maybe we need some motorcycle cowboys, who can lasso the dirtbags and hog tie them. Yippee Ki-yay M-fer!

Last time I saw them on Quarter field road, there were three of them. Two of them were on appropriately sized dirt bikes, but the third dude was on a very small dirt bike that wasn't appropriately sized for him. He was like the runt of the pack. Could barely keep up and he was wide open. Comical... of course it had to be stolen. Why would he be riding such an inferior bike?
