Called 911 this afternoon to see if AA Co’s finest had any interest in trying to intercept a group of punks on full-sized motorbikes tearing up and down the B&A Trail just north of the Ranger Station @ Earliegh Heights.

Four of them, all in helmets (ironically) doing at least 30mph riding 2x2 except when they were popping wheelies and other feats of jackassery.

Don’t think they caught them b/c I heard them pass by about an hour later.

Dangerous fucktards. I wonder how far north they came from.

I was wondering how small/compact they make spike strips. Easier to clean up in a hurry than a handful of tiny caltrops.

Yeah they came down Thomas Way out onto Robinson and back onto the trail northbound. A real bunch of a$$holes on wheels.

I emphasized the danger angle when I called 911. Didn’t want to sound like a simple nuisance call. They were reckless and that trail wasn’t comfortably wide enough for them to pass Mrs.BurtonRW and I at speed like they did.

Incidentally, I’m certain I could have dropped at least one or two of them with my G26, but I didn’t, so this whole vigilante blood-in-the-streets business that the Moms worry about, well, I guess I just suck at that.

Actually not that hard to make. Aircraft grade aluminum tubing, cut on a sharp angle, welded to aluminum plate or expanded sheet keeps it pretty light. Transport is a different story as they are damn sharp and need a hard case.

Cops are going to ignore that for the most part.
They don’t want any blowback from a chase injury or death.

    Sad but true

*****Yes. Pretty much this. There are no easy solutions to this problem and the police have been somewhat hamstrung in terms of their ROE in situations like this.

There are *many* other countries where the police would chase until the suspects either got away, or crashed themselves out. If they catch them, they would beat them (a lot) to somewhat teach them to either not get caught, or not do stupid stuff like this, confiscate the bikes, and if they were younger kids, also yell at their parents for raising such stupid kids.

This is what happens when there aren't any places to ride legally. Not saying what they did was OK or right, and I can't tell how reckless they were from the story, but where are they to go? If MD makes it impossible for you to ride legally, you become a criminal and you begin to care less about repercussions. Some of us can relate.

I’ll go out on a limb and say this bunch would do this even if there was a free dirt track somewhere in the neighborhood.

I rode dirt bikes and 4 wheeled in all kinds of not legal places when I was younger. A paved biking trail never would have made the list. One because I’d have been afraid of getting caught which I guarantee these riders weren’t. Two because it’s a paved bike trail, not a dirt bike spot

*****Yes. This. Also, if you're a kid just wanting to ride at the "legal" dirt track, I have to assume someone has to get you there - perhaps a parent with a vehicle that can take said bike and you and your gear so everything is "legal". The kids I have seen doing really stupid stuff probably stole the bikes to begin with, and they don't seem all that concerned about getting caught nor being injured, etc..

I used to ride 3 wheelers (before they were I guess outlawed for sale..) and some dirt bikes, but it was a different time and there was plenty of undeveloped areas to ride versus now, at least in our area. It was rare for anyone to hassle us, as we could get to the woods and the trails we used very quickly and they weren't really "hiking trails" so rare to see anyone not on a bike, etc..

I see videos of youths on motorbikes now in downtown Baltimore just doing crazy things. I'm sure it happens in other places as well.

There are easy solutions but there is no will to implement them. No different than the same idiots doing this in downtown Baltimore or on the beltway. The squeegee kids in Baltimore get away with their stupid crap because people in charge don’t want to deal with that either.
Government is doing nothing but encouraging more and more lawless behavior.

They weren't just on the trail. They were riding on side streets and Robinson rd. which is a very busy secondary rd. From what I heard they were way above the speed limit.
