You need your MD permit in hand. You submit pics of the physical permit when applying in PA. Numbers won't cut it.
    ^^This^^

You will need to provide front & back pictures of both your driver's license/official ID and your MD HGP with your online application. When you go to pick up your PA permit, you will need to show both items in person.

York is very easy- online application and pickup in person at the annex just east of town is easy with ample parking 10 minutes in and out. Adams might be closer from where you are though.
Last I checked, York was requiring that non-residents must own property in the county. Has this changed?

Nope, no such property requirements when I got my PA permit a few months ago.

I think you misspelled South Carolina.
About 10 years ago, the last time I renewed my PA permit, I remember seeing a sign in the court clerk's office saying something about needing to own property, so I started renewing in Adams. I must've misunderstood.

I applied Thursday (12/1) and was approved less than 24 hours later on Friday (12/2). I went with the Adams County Sheriff's office. I logged in yesterday to make an appointment to get my picture taken and pick up the permit. The first appointment date available is January 3rd, 2023! They must be slammed with these permit requests.

Now that my W&C is in hand, it's time to turn to PA, but the Adams Co and York applications seem to have the same hassles as MD:

    - do they actually contact your employer? this would be a no-go for me, dawg
    - do they actually contact your references? mine won't care, but I need to know if I need to give them a heads up

I don't think York called any of my references. Being retired I didn't face the job issue, but one of my refs was my old boss anyway.

I think if they're going by Bruen, they wouldn't call in any case.
