I've never understood the hatred for squirrels. Unless you're eating it, seems like an excuse to satisfy bloodlust and kill something, which to me is a little sick.

I get it but what’s the difference in a squirrel and a rat. Do we have the same compassion toward mice and rats as we do, say a fuzzy bunny or nutty squirrel? We feed mice and rats poison and send them to suffer in some hole in the wall. Takes days for them to die.
I do have same compassion for mice and rats. I prefer to use live traps and relocate them as to killing them. Poison should be out right illegal. The mice eat the poison then run off sick some other animals eats the poisonous mouse and gets sick. It could be your house pet that gets sick and dies from a poisoned mouse.
if you are going to kill a living creature it is your duty to do it as quickly and as humanly as possible. There is no need to cau an Amimal to suffer.

My custom moderated Macari R9 Tarantula .22 with 16x spring gun scope will go through and through both shoulders of a tree rat at 25 yards....

For comparison, a Remington 30 grain low velocity CB at 730 FPS at the muzzle is super quiet and will go through a squirrel, but also the front and rear walls of a T111 shed. As me how I know, I stopped using it......

Aguila Colibri in 22LR, it's around 400fps. Not certain that it'll drop a squirrel but I'll be trying soon. Penetrates 4 layers of cardboard and sticks about 1/4" into pine wood. I was just shooting some in my garage a few nights ago. As compared to CCI Quiet (around 700fps) which punches through cardboard, completely through a 3/8" sheet of wood, and halfway into another sheet of wood.

And quiet? Out of my kids 16" savage rascal with my suppressor, I would argue it's quieter then a pellet gun.

They chewed through the wiring on the active shocks on my Raptor, then a month later chewed through wiring in the engine compartment resulting in a no-start condition. They also chewed into the intake cover. That all cost me over $2000. This summer they chewed into wiring on my wife’s Explorer, another $500.

I now have (4) different things positioned to keep them away from my TRX.

Same thing happened to my 4Runner (twice) before i sold it. I finally purchased a car capsule which worked to keep them out. https://carcapsule.com/

Hes the guy shooting crossbow bolts into necks. "its just a doe, who cares"
I don’t get why anyone would not want to harvest the animals as clean and quickly as possable. They are living breathing things and deserve the respect to not make them suffer any more then needed.
people with additud like that are the reason there are so many anti hunters.

exactly. Torturing animals with no remorse is how they view hunting. I want it to be instant. I hate watching any animal i shoot squirm even if its for 20 seconds. Knowing i made a bad shot and the animal is walking around for days in misery makes me sick to my stomach and question if i want to keep hunting. I am not the best hunter ever and i do make mistakes but i try as hard as i can to make clean kills. THats our responsibility as hunters. When i have a racoon getting in my trash i dont try and wound it and teach it a lesson, i kill it quick or trap and relocate

Hunting is not perfect and we all make bad shot from time to time, that can not be helped. The responsible hunter will track the anima and finish it off as soon as possible. My wife can not stand opossum and shoots everyone she sees to chase it away, but she uses a spring powered airsoft gun with plastic bb. they dont hurt the animals in any way but does make them leave. They run when they see her but if they see me they casually walk away.

Squirrels have been wrecking havoc with my bird feeders. Nosey neighbors around here are not sympathetic to guns. Air rifles or .22 shorts may work for some. For me its a cross bow.

I use to use my marlin 25n with ceebee for plinking in the back yard of my old house. It was very quite. I may or may not have shot and killed a goose that was over 200 yards from me in a field with one.

I have well over a dozen rifles and same amount of pump and air pistols. Ii would use a 22 cal pellet rifle with at least 1000 FPS. I use a 1200 fps to drop them tree rats out of my apple trees each year. I do all head shots also. The body shots wont always kill them but injure or shock them and they will get up and run sometimes.
