Going out this afternoon. Goal: not move. Seems simple enough, right? But it seems that deer never do the same thing two days in a row. Should I gamble on the spot I was (or should've stayed) yesterday, or should I sit elsewhere?

Sounds like you need a game camera or two to monitor activity, so you can make educated guesses.

To hunt ether side of a front is usually productive. I don’t think this is going to clear out in time but if it slows or stops you should see some action. Game cameras are great and can increase your odds but there will always be exceptions. Last year I went to a cell camera and the best thing is I can leave the area alone. Also it lets me know what bucks are local. A few years ago I held out for an old 6 point. His rack was nothing special but he was a tank of a buck. Had I not seen him 3 or 4 times on camera I wouldn’t have held out and would’ve shot a deer not as good.
    Good Luck

Do you know why the deer move through there?

I try to avoid hunting low pressure weather. Your scent pours downward from your stand and deer tend not to move well.

    My 2 cents.

Thanks for all of the replies. I hunt public land, so game cameras are out of the question. I see (what I think is) the same buck early in the morning before shooting hours and then around sunset, but I have no idea where he actually beds down.

Where I sit is usually well-traveled by other deer, but I just like to come here to share/gripe/complain. Lol. I swear there was more chatter on last season's thread. Maybe it's too early in the season.

I think it’s the other way around but I’ll be honest and say I’ve never considered the air flow during different pressures.

For me it was way too warm in September to think about hunting. October and November I’m usually into deer hunting.

There are many conditions that can affect air flow.
This season, pay attention to barometric pressures and how your breathe(visible vapor) is affected by the two, especially when they are transitioning or have just transitioned from one to the other.
Also, it is an undisputable truth that deer, big deer especially, move better during a high pressure situation.
Often people related a quiet, foggy, cloudy day is "deery" looking weather, when the opposite is true. Bright, dry, bluebird days are the best days to hunt deer.
If the rut is knocking on the door, and tonight's weather forecast is calling for dropping temperatures with sunny skies, that is the morning you need to be in a tree. I have been hunting on days that started out damp and drizzly but dry and sunny was called for the afternoon. The minute that sun pops out, like flipping a switch, the deer are everywhere. Don't worry about a little wind in the mix either. Deer will move.

Agree the blue bird days have been best for me.
Believe it or not I’ve seen a noticeable difference using It Ozonics

Recently bought a home in northern Baltimore Co with about 2 acres of wooded property around it, see deer walking through almost daily. Hoping to finally harvest my first one this year.

Oh hell yeah! I've written pages on MDS about Ozonics. I've been using them for about 10 years. I recently saw someone post about how too much ozone is unhealthy. It will give you a sore throat if you have it blowing directly on you. Thing is, it isn't supposed to blow directly on you. It's supposed to be pointed towards the down-wind stream and disperse into your scent cone. You shouldn't smell, though there are times it is unavoidable, a falling barometer is one.

Welp, shot fired across the port bow. Well, hopefully not. 40 yards, 2 points, quartering away, sounded like a solid hit, he darted off but then slowed as he hit the treeline. Didn't see my bruiser until I jumped him walking back to set up the carrier. Going to give it another 30 minutes before I go search.

Good luck! Perfect conditions for the thermal. Hope you beat the rain. It's pouring in Washington County.
