    Hi everyone,

I came across this site through the reddit MDguns group I was using to track my CCW application and after about a month of lurking I figured I would introduce myself.

I'm a married mother of 2 girls. Moved to the eastern shore two years ago. I grew up in Delaware but previously lived in Aberdeen and Elkton.
I'm relatively new to the 2A community. Growing up, my dad had a rifle and shotgun, but never showed me anything about how to use them. Having two young daughters and watching the chaos during the riots of 2020 and the defund the police movement prompted me to take steps to become better able to defend myself and family, if necessary.
I got my hql at Atlantic tactical and purchased a Glock 48 and also purchased a budget Del-Ton carbine in 5.56 just to become familiar with the common AR platform.
This August I took my CCW class at Atlantic tactical (RS and his staff are excellent!) and now awaiting my approval and preparing for the concealed carry lifestyle!
I have been practicing at range time in millsboro and really have been impressed with the facility and staff. I plan on going at least once a month to improve my technique and grouping.

I have to say that the 2A community has been very welcoming and respectful to me as a beginner. My dad moved to Florida and my sister and mom are on the very liberal side of things and just going to the classes was like a breath of fresh air being around people who aren't judging me for not wanting to be vaccinated for COVID, or any of the other things they judge me for. I'll never hear the end of it if and when they find out I own guns! But I don't pay them any mind anymore now that I have my own family to worry about.

Outside of shooting, I like hiking, gardening and going to the beach. I love to cook so may post some food porn in addition to asking dumb questions and going off on unhinged political rants, I apologize in advance lol

I'm hoping to add to my collection next year but not sure what to get. My dream would be a cmmg banshee 9mm but I keep thinking an extar + optic and ammo would be better for the same price. I don't have tons of cash lying around, and pride myself getting on value and good deals. If not a PCC maybe a Glock 43 or some other smaller handgun for CC depending on how I like carrying the 48 once my permit comes. I'm open to suggestions and ideas for what would be a good 3rd gun for a newbie.

Thanks to anyone who actually read this!

Welcome to Davidsonville. As the proud owner of a CMMG Banshee, I can tell you that it is worth the money. There are many blowback carbines that can be had for less money but the CMMG delayed blowback system makes the gun much easier to control and it stays much cleaner if you run it suppressed.

Welcome to the insanity that is MDS. Congratulations on starting your arsenal. Seek continued training and buy plenty of ammo for your tools. There's a member here who writes a blog called the civilian gunfighter. If your primary motivation for owning firearms is personal defense, his reviews of courses he has attended are worth a read.

This place has some good information, a lot of great people, and a few issues. Don't feed the trolls and ignore the blowhards....it will make the board a better place.

Greetings from Federalsburg, Maryland. I have a Del-Ton AR platform rifle as well. It was the first gun that I bought.

Hey! Welcome from Middle Tennessee! (recently of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and also, going waaay back, of Aberdeen and had a sister in Elkton). Glad you are taking responsibility for your protection, and hopefully finding a new sport and new friends, to boot. I used to work at a Hardware store/gun shop in Parksley, VA about 20 some miles south of Pocomoke. Good folks, neat guns and they'll deal with you on stuff!

The reviews and everything I've heard about it are so good! Maybe I can find one gently used and get it for myself for my birthday next spring.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll be sure to check out his blog and ignore the trolls. I'll take trolls over bots any day, personally.

Sweet! I haven't had time to sight mine yet, I've been so focused on getting my CCW and training for that.
Before I go to the range I think I might change the grip for the Magpul one that doesn't have the bump where your finger goes. Currently just have iron sights, but eventually I'll get a red dot but wanted to learn the hard way first.
Gotta be ready for when SHTF lol

I'll check it out the store in Parksley next time I'm down that way. We drive down to Metompkin seafood for fish sandwiches now and then so that's not too much farther.

I have an optic on mine, but I haven't used my AR-15 ever since I got it. I've been focusing on getting a pistol for the last few weeks. Specifically, I'm planning to get the Glock 19 Gen 3. I already got a holster, took the Wear and Carry class, and submitted my application, which hopefully gets approved and I get the permit by Halloween.

Greetings from Baltimore Co. As a former eastern shore resident I still make the pilgrimage to DSC. Best outdoor range in MD. As a next gun I'd suggest a 22lr. I've shot more 22lr on private land than all other calibers combined.
