One more thing, get what your heart really wants. IMHO, high dollar 1911s are just as much about looks, features and brand name appeal than any practical matter unless you are a champion bullseye shooter that can use the sometimes guaranteed accuracy.

I really wanted the Baer Thunder Ranch but decided to save a few bucks and went a little more practical with adjustable sights on the premier II for range use. I was never really satisfied. It was a fine gun and no issues but still…

I suspect you already kinda know what you want. One day I’ll own a real Colt SAA. For now clones will have to do, but they aren’t the same…

If I was in the market for a boutique 1911 today, the Wilson Hackathorn is damn sexy with some nice practical features.

ETA: checkout TheOl1911 on YouTube. He reviews some nice 1911s.

I have a 1911 and a 1911A1. While the 1911 costs more, the A1 improvements make it better in my opinion.

According to the FBI, no difference between modern defensive 9mm and 45 ACP ammo in terms of incapacitation. 9mm give advantages including weight, size and capacity.

    So…agree.
Because you trust the federal govt to be truthful?

Thanks and agree. Thinking Combat CQB KE Tactical but can’t find anything local at that level. Looked to build one on their site but it was less then helpful.

Some excellent options have already been stated.
In a semi-auto pistol you also have:
    CZ - P10
    CZ - 97
    Sig 320

In revolvers look at Smith and Wesson
    625
    25-2
    1950
    1955
    1917
