The wife, who got her 7/21 submission both approved and assigned a NICS number on 8/1, just got a packet from CJIS saying the FBI’s automated system has judged her electronically submitted finger prints as too low quality to be used in their system.

She called the print company we used, and they’re going to re-do/submit on the same number (or something like that), but they can’t work her into their schedule until next week.

Interestingly, the letter she got somewhat vaguely implies that the agency looking to do her background check probably doesn’t really need prints anyway, just ask them.

    Oy.

The FBI assigns it’s own number to submitted prints. By reusing the number that was previously issued it supposedly speeds things up. The scan machine is supposed to recognize bad scans and prompt the operator to scan again.

    Somebody forked up

How hard is it to have her come in 10 minutes before the business opens to redo them?

Well, I am confused now. I submitted on 8/1 and application was accepted 8/9. Just for giggles I clicked the print application page and I show a 9 digit number next to the NICS Number indicator. Won't give the number but it is 3 numbers, 3 letters, 1 number and 2 more letters. Is this just a place holder for real NICS number to come later?

In the last six days, we've seen just over a five day increase in the running seven day average for timeline from app submission to approval. It was 30.8 days on 8/11, and is now 35.9.

    Ew.

Never would I have thought I’d be in a situation where I’d want more government hired so they can hurry up and let me practice my second amendment right. I need to get out of Maryland.

Does it show a date next to NICS #?
    NICS Number: 102L2XXXX Date: 8/17/2022

I’m going to treat my application like an NFA form 4. File and Forget for now.

We’ve waited decades for this. I can wait a couple of months more.
Kind of what I am doing... I did give the Form 4 a 6 week head start. It is the AFT after all... LMAO

I'm hoping for permit by Thanksgiving and a Quiet Christmas day!

What's crazy is they have been working on 7/18 accepted since last Friday. 6 days and 4 work days. Prior to this it was 2 for 1.

If this is the normal going forward, we'll hit 60 days for approval by about 7/25 approval date. Crazy.

I'm another 7/19er. This seems to be the biggest group of MDS members waiting so far.

Good luck to everyone. But it does not look good

Looks like NICS does have relevance in terms of your place in line when they get to your approval dates. 18rs with 8/1 and 8/2 NICS got approved before they got to the 8/3 18rs

Yeah I just did a quick run back. It does appear that the accepted date and nics dates have a correlation.

Noticed the first 18rs that started getting approved had earlier nics dates

If things continue on like it is the perpetual class of 7/18rs… things going to take a while. The 18rs are giving us the first study of the “wall”
