I too am thinking about an extended mag release for my 365xl but my friend installed one and he kept dropping mags due to his grip. He went back to stock. I may try it out anyway since I find it difficult to drop the mag with the stock release.

How fat is his thumb to hit it? I just tried to intentionally hit the release so that the mag drops. I won't say it's impossible, but with a proper grip, it's impossible. His support thumb would have to ride so low that it is on top of it and the support hand presses it into it. I tried that and the fatty part of the palm isn't firm enough to even facilitate that.
If his grip has his thumb over the release and his support hand squeezes, then that may do it.

I think your buddy needs to learn a proper grip.

I just ordered the zev oversized, I’m hoping it works out better. I saw one the moves the release further up towards the slide, which would be great for higher gripping people. Not sure which one it is though.

Thanks to this thread, I ordered and received a Gray Guns mag release and a Wilson combat XL grip module.

This was before I even located the pistol and put it in Maryland jail. I have a problem… I guess I learned from the past that if you think you want to try something, get it before it’s out of stock again…

I have the same setup. Love the Wilson Combat grip.

I’ll send in for the free mag offer but I’m trying to decide if two more rounds is worth the expense to track down and buy the 12 rounders in a free state… I like to have at least 6 mags for a handgun so… I probably will. Sig mags are just so expensive compared to Glock and Beretta.

If you're thinking about getting the DC permit, you'll need a couple 10 round mags

Good point. I’m not sure I’ll get the DC permit since the only reason I go down there is on the rare occasion for work or going to a museum or something. And I usually take the metro so I don’t think I could legally carry in any of those places….

I have use for a Virginia and PA license though…

In the past I would only buy medium or large framed handguns and the MD 10 rounders would live in the case they came in as backups.

But now I need to readjust my thinking. I would guess a lot of us are in the same boat.

Give an update on how you like it. Love Gray Guns.
In addition to being a world class gunsmith and parts maker, Bruce Gray is also a phenomenal trainer and a really nice guy.

If anyone ever has the chance to take a class with him, do it.

Got my Wilson grip for my 365XL in the mail today. Will be installing that tomorrow.

FYI. I ordered it directly from Wilson, selected the cheapest shipping option, and it arrived in 4 days.

They have great customer service. I needed something expedited after I made the order, and e mailed them saying I would call and pay for it. They just did it gratis.

I’m going to send a bunch of rounds through the stock 365x before changing anything.

I have the gray guns mag release. Have you had any issues with holster fitment after the swap?
