I wouldn't be surprised if MSP was printing everything out and having people grab bunches from a stack and then you're stuck with however quickly they work through their stack. You processor gets the day off, you're sol :p
I don't doubt it....And in the trail end of summer, day off is more like weeks at a time... Maybe we'll see a surge right around back to school time..

I think we're in the surge of applications which came after the Hogan announcement (July 5th?)
That’s the small surge who had training exempt. The actual surge was the two weekends after when people completed training and fingerprints. Timelines are expanding. Day 19 after accepted and still no NICS # yet, that was averaging 14 days after accepted. The current average is 29 days from submitting to approve, if you remove any data before July 18th I’m sure the new average will be 45 days plus. Fingers crossed that I’m wrong and get approved within 30 days.

The sheet only has data from those who have been approved, and the earliest approval date we have is July 18. For what we have, the timeline from accepted to approved has been largely consistent, but I agree that we are now into the leading edge of the second, much larger surge in applications.

Personally, I am most interested in tracking the rolling seven day averages. Given the data, that will give us the best idea of MSP's turnaround times.

Has the MSP website password reset requirement always been 30 days? I don't remember it being that frequent. Of course prior to 24 Jun 22 I wasn't that frequent a user, just waited for my 77R "not disapproved" to show to show up in email.

30 days is about right. It's been that way for at least a year or two.

Getting "Approved" isn't the last hoop to jump through because you have to have the actual permit in hand for it to count.

    Approved 8/2/22
    Permit in hand ..............???

Still waiting and counting days. As of mail delivery yesterday:
    Business Days 5
    Calendar Days 7

Anyone received an actual permit that was Approved after 8/1?

My application changed from “Application Accepted” to “Awaiting Assignment” on July 19th, almost 3 weeks without movement. Just curious how long you’ve been in “Awaiting Assignment” status.

My application never had "Awaiting Assignment". I went from "Application Accepted" to Showing NICS number.

the sample size is small. We do not know what is causing outliers right now the more approvals we get the more accurate the data gets. But outliers and blips based on the dates in the dashboard are all guesses. What may look like widening of the dates could be some sort of technical, or manpower issue. Bruen is going on 2 months and the MSP handling the flood is a work in progress.

It does but it also says I will get an email once a background investigator has been assigned.
So does mine. Do you have a NICS number?

    Dear joppaj

Regarding Handgun Permit application number 22HGP028....

Your HGP application has been reviewed and the status changed to "Application Accepted." Your application is now awaiting assignment to a background investigator based on the order in which it was received. It is not necessary to contact the HGP section for a "status check" as you will automatically receive an email when your application is assigned to a background investigator.
