Florida permit application processing time

I completed my MD W&C class 7/24/22 and submitted the completed application the same day. At the class I was offered the option to use the same class to also satisfy the training requirement for the Florida non resident permit. I completed the application and wrote a check which was sent to Florida in a single package along with other class attendees.

As of today, 8/3/22, the check has not been cashed. I realize the Bruin decision has most likely made the government employees quite buisy, but it has in the past been my experience that payments are ALWAYS collected immediately. How long have others experienced from the time they mailed in their Florida application until the check is cashed? Just want to temper my expectations with a healthy dose of reality.

Mine was mailed with in a day or two of bruen, still says processing when I check. With the disclaimer it can take 90 days.

Well, if you're a Veteran, seven days or less. Anybody else the web site says 30-90 days.

I used a DD214, but even though they had an issue with my prints, it was approved in 3 or so weeks. Money order for my prints was deposited in about 3 days.

Florida is a quick turnaround unless something wasn't done correctly. My buddy got his card within 4 weeks of his payment clearing.

Edit, bruen will have little affect on Florida as they were already shall issue.

My FL renewal arrived this week; almost exactly 3-week turnaround from mailing.

Got my Florida CWP back in 2018 and it was about 6 weeks from me mailing to receiving. Mailed Utah 1 week after I mailed Florida and got it back about a week before the Florida license.

If they're done in Florida, yes, they accept LiveScan. LiveScans from outside Florida are a no-go.

There are clear instructions posted at the site, if you are curious about the process and/or plan to apply, visiting the Florida licensing site and reading those instructions and the Florida statutes affecting carrying weapons should be Step One.

As a Florida resident, after walking in the office, it took me no more than 20 minutes to fill out the yes/no form on the computer, and have my fingerprints and picture taken. They accepted my NRA instructor credentials for the training. A week later, I was approved and received my permit in the mail.

They are exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Even the employees at the Florida MVA could not be nicer.

I love our governor!!!! It's interesting to see the political signs around here. They all say Republican. I haven't seen any that said Democrat.

There is no waiting period for purchasing a handgun if you have your carry permit.

I recently purchased the Lockton Affinity carry insurance. For Florida, it is $147 per year.

Back in October of 2021 it took about two weeks for FL to get my mailed in non-resident permit application and mail it to DC.

er... at stated in the OP, I filled out the form and gave the package to the company conducting the class. I did nothing online for Florida, so I do not have an application number.

They should have the application number then, it would have been displayed on the receipt. You could try contacting the company that did your application. You may be able to find out by calling Florida's licensing department.

If you can get the number, you can search using that and your date of birth to check status.

My status changed yesterday to incomplete. They are mailing me a letter, I dont know what I missed, took about 45 days to get to this point.

I got my FL permit yesterday (DD214).

Exactly 1 month from mailbox to mailbox, and that includes 2 letters from them saying I needed to fix stuff. First was because I submitted online and they didn't have my prints at submittal (out of state cant use livescan so everyone submitting online will get this). Second was them having an issue with my prints which was cleared up via phone/email.

Did you apply at the same time you requested cards? If so, they looked at your application and were missing prints.
Did you send a separate $42 payment with your fingerprint cards? I thought I had paid everything online when I applied and sent my card in. My letter said "prints and payment".

I called them and they had since received the prints, but needed the print processing payment. Sent that in same day and status showed approved within a week. Card is due in any day.
