Holy jeez! What are you driving and are you going to Scranton to get your permit? Even Bowie to York and back is only 160 miles round trip (and there are places closer than York you could be doing it I am pretty sure). That's 4.5 miles per gallon of diesel or 6mpg of gas at today's pump costs (as high as they are). Care about the planet or not, I think you need to find a 2nd cheap vehicle that gets better than 4.5-6mpg.
I estimated 180 miles to Gettysburg, 10 mpg in my 2000 Excursion diesel, and traffic snarls that are common. I agree estimates aren’t science, but my point was the cost of the trip vs the cost of the permit.

    A couple of things,

How backed up is PA going to get with thousands of people getting wear and carry permits and maryland and taking the drive up to get the Pa one.

Two they are completely online now in Adams county ( gettysburg ), you even pay online now.

Two I just tempted fate and did my PA app online and uploaded the approval from MDSP. I dont have my card yet, but I figured ( hopefully ) they see the approval letter as proof I have the wear and carry. Worse case when you go online to track the app there is a place to upload more info. I figure with how MD is going I should have my card in a few days, probably saturday or monday. Being friday later in the day, they probably wont even look at the app for a day or 2. This gives the post office a chance to get it here.

If they kick it out for not attaching a pic of the W&C I will just upload it as soon as I get it and play dumb ( I might be). It does say on the app if your out of state to attached a photo copy per the email reply. So I can play dumb, and if it comes tomorrow I will just upload it tomorrow.

    Lets see what happens
Any updates? I'll be in PA in a couple weeks, but won't have my card in hand until after that.

Belay my last. I just called Adams County, and the nice lady informed me that you would need to have the card in hand.

No but I did upload pics of my W&C, it has a "progress" bar that says processing. No clue how accurate that is.

I applied to York County and I live in eastern Cecil
Thanks. I was going to call Lancaster today to ask if they would be changing but was busy all day and never got around to it. After looking at their web page though, I doubt they will as like several others, strictly in county residents only.

I applied two weeks ago for the PA permit. Uploaded my MD and Utah Permits. It was approved in 3 days and I picked it up yesterday in Gettysburg. Thing looks pretty cheesy but now I have 3!! In and out of the Sheriff's in 10 minutes, that includes sitting down for a picture.

Was the Gettysburg process totally on line?

Ooorah John. Yea, I would have loved to hang out around there for a bit but I was on mission to get in and out. It has been too long since I have visited that sacred ground. I will be back.

Why did you upload your Utah permit? Did the app say to upload all permits you have?

If you are a Maryland resident, the Maryland permit is a MUST to get the PA permit, but PA couldn't care less about your Utah permit, AFAIK.

The application asked me if I had permits from other states, so I uploaded both of them (front and back). Whether needed or not it was approved quickly :-)

I don’t remember the app asking for other permits besides your home permit. I went and looked at my printed copy of my app. No mention of other state permit requested in the printed copy of the app

My app is Adams County not York or any other

Same deal with Chester County which for me on the shore would have been my closest I believe.

Looks like I'll be taking a ride up to York County in the next couple months.

Is there any chance PA eventually just accepts MD permits in the future?
Probably not unless MD accepts PA and that is not going to happen anytime soon.
