OK, I'm new to the group and MD Politician's mindset. What is an 'undetectable' gun? Will there be cops on every street corner doing searches to verify you do not posess a firearm?
Well no but they can find a lame excuse to do so for minor offenses like a broken tail light bulb and then it becomes a much more serious charge after that.

Maryland politicians(the vast majority) have but one mindset. You do not have a right to self defense. You must run or cower in place accepting whatever harm an alleged offender may unleash upon you.
They will be treated carefully insuring proper use of their desired pronouns, by unarmed counselors and taxpayer funded attorneys.
Any gun they do not know about is, by their definition undetected and must therefore be undetectable.
Do not expect to find reason or common sense in anything they do.
The cops are not allowed to spot check anyone in B'more city anymore. Have you not heard that it is considered to be racist behavior?! Makes no sense when you see the diverse makeup of the department.

So, every "downtown" or "Central Business District" area becomes a complete firearms free zone...Makes Georgia Ave almost exclusively firearms free from just north of Windham, all the way through the Glenmont Metro station...yup, that'll save the community...

A reminder that 57.11 is law right now. MSI has been litigating against its provisions inserted by Bill 4-21 since last May. A hearing is scheduled in that case for next Tuesday.

What if you live within 100 yards of the public assembly or even within 100 yards of a prohibited area. Does that mean that you can't defend yourself within your residence if you live that close to these designated areas?

I so wish I could get speak in front of these idiots, I could make them all look like bigger idiots. With things like common sense, but they will still do what they do.

Just give me 20 mins to debate them on camera.
I'm afraid it is much worse. They are not idiots but 1st class hyprocrites. They do understand what they are doing. But they continue to do it in order to stay in the office and be elected in this county again and again.

These people are great. They never bothered to read the decision. They understand nothing.
They will understand when SCOTUS tells them I told you no shenanigans and make the whole state constitutional carry. MC will go down in history accelerating constitutional wear and carry.

If it's an "undetectable gun" then how can the police detect that you have it on you?

    Their whole position is

The exceptions in 57.11 include one that seems to say there is an allowance that it doesn’t apply *inside* the home. we’ll see what the court says about that.

My question is wtf counts as "other place of public assembly"? I want to do a pre-recorded statement for this pile but I wonder if it would hinder my chances of getting my MD CCW, them out of spite. Slight paranoia I know.

no. they understand everything. we'll let you get permits but you can't carry in most places. a big FU to SCOTUS. just like g&s, it was unconstitutional and they knew it, but how many years / decades was it happening.

they put crap in place. so many years for it to be overturned, and zero personal liability or repercussions to those who unconstitutionally signed it into law.

they understand NOW, they just don't care. they will take it as a badge of courage that they got away with it for so long.

until there is personal liability for folks that enact unconstitutional laws, it won't stop.

It's been a pattern and practice to pass legislation, regardless of its constitutionality, and leave it to the courts to uphold or strike. Very few legislators will tell constituents they'd like to do something for them but it won't pass constitutional muster, so they won't. Instead, they'll pass shit legislation, take credit (and raise campaign funds) for addressing a problem, and leave it to the courts to sort it out.
