We are advised by the State Police that everything is now fixed and up and running. Let me know if anyone has problems.
Thank you for all that you do for Country. It is appreciated by many quiet patriots.

One would think that the hundreds of pending applications to remove restrictions (that were originally G&S) on active permits could be worked through in 1 minute each. Basically a rubber stamp event, zero further follow-up required, then issue a revised permit by mail.

I heard through the grapevine today that MSP is to assume that restrictions such as "while on official duties" or "while employed with X employer" should not be enforced and that it wasn't necessary to ask for permit restriction removals. IANAL, however, and this does come secondhand. I've no source to cite. Apparently FFLs got the call today mentioning it.

Until the law that treats breach of restrictions as criminal offenses is repealed, the law enforcement has to enforce the law.
Latest advisory is that all restrictions are lifted effective immediately. Msp is directing law enforcement to disregard all restrictions printed on the reverse side.

I plan on doing the training and applying for my permit shortly. Anticipating the interview, is there anything in Maryland law that would allow the investigator the leeway to ask for additional information not on the application form? i want to be prepared if the investigators follow the lead of other blue states and asks for social media handles. Nothing to hide, I simply value my privacy and right to express my opinions in a non violent way. Ya know, like the constitution provides for.

Which can be rescinded on a whim...

Not to mention it is an advisory, other jurisdictions do not have to follow the MSP's lead.

I have an HQL that was issued when the requirement first came out. On the MSP licensing portal for CCW, there is the option to log in or start a new account. Should I create a new account or attempt to recover my login from my HQL approval?

I was discussing getting my permit this morning with a friend and told them I need to get my training first. He stated that he read MD Safe Hunter Course counted as training, I told him that I didn't think it works for MD but read that some states did accept it.

Any truth that MD accepts MD Safe Hunter Training Course. I have taken the course 3 time over my life span with kids and friends. Still feel that training is a good thing, You can never have enough education....books or hard knock each teach something the other doesn't.
For MD Carry Permit, absolutely not. Separate course.

    AFAIK they are separate systems

I was looking around on the Free State calendar for training dates for Utah and the server shut me down for “excessive website traffic”

Saw that few days ago/last week. My guess is they are using a cheap hosting provider and will not be allocated anymore bandwidtch until August and then it will be exausted on Aug1st.

I kinda thought that too. They’re working on my renewal. Why not do it during the process? $10 vs lighter workload.

Have you tried to call the MSP this week? No-one is going to answer because you would get a busy signal :lol2:

If an officer from another jurisdiction calls I’m quite sure he can speak to someone by calling another number than what’s listed for us.

I'm sure they will, after you've been detained. There's a difference between detain and arrest:

Arrest = probable cause a crime has been committed and you are in the custody of the officer
Detain = reasonable belief a crime has been committed and you are not free to leave until the officer either arrests you or lets you go

Think of it like a traffic ticket, you are temporarily detained until the officer writes you the ticket. I wouldn't want the hassle of either being detained or arrested until officer bumblef***k eventually gets through to MSP to determine there are in fact no restrictions. Just pay the $10 and move on with life.
