I recently got charged with possession of marijuana for "an amount less than 10grams" after a tragic stop. 30 dollar ticket, paid. Will this affect my carry ability? I am a marine veteran and was not a criminal offence.

Depends on what you mean by "recent." From reading through the requirements, you may have an issue with this:

Is not presently an alcoholic, addict, or habitual user of a controlled dangerous substance unless under legitimate medical direction

I've heard the State has revoked HQLs if the HQL-holder has a medical marijuana card. I don't have any first-hand experience with this and suggest you call the MSP and complete the application truthfully when submitting it to the MSP. I believe marijuana is still within the definition of a "controlled dangerous substance."

$625? I just paid $335(with fingerprints) for the wear and carry permit class at Freestate this weekend. Signed up right when Supreme Court released the ruling, maybe they upped the price since then.

Also, if I already got finger printed through livescan for my HQL a cpl years back, do I need to get them printed again for the W&C?

You can remove the application facilitation service. It's a service they provided to help people get approved but it's not needed now with g&s being dropped. You will be approved as long as you are not a prohibited person.

You do have to get fingerprinted again. The livescan is only good for 30 days.

I understand. But Heritage says it is required to register (i.e. a "prerequisite") for their wear and carry training class. So basically required...by Heritage anyway.

If it's not required for your HGP (it isn't) and you don't actually want it, train someplace else and don't waste your money on some arbitrary proprietary "requirement".

Yes. Follow the prompts and you can apply (no fee) to become a Qualified Handgun Instructor and you'll be qualified to teach the 16 hr class. The QHIC comes rather quickly by email.

Then hang up a shingle, start running courses at your convenience.

Oh, that changes things for me. I was trying to find a MD certified instructor to take the NRA CCW class from, to be able to use the course applying in other states besides just MD. Taking the NRA Pistol Instructor and getting the QHIC sounds like an even better option. Especially as I can find that more local here in PA. I see one listed in Stroudsburg for only $135 for the 2 day class, the BIT (Basic Instructor Training) and live fire. I’m just between there and the Lehigh Valley, so looking more so in those areas of PA.
I just talked to them, and would need the 8 hour NRA Basic pistol class first. Also at $135. Then apply and wait for my QHIC. The extra 8 hour day of training would still save me travel costs.
Being an NRA certified instructor should be acceptable in other states also. Maybe even NJ. Will probably wait till some of their requirements are ruled against first though.

I took mine at Guntry and it was $300.00 including fingerprints. I thought the class was well done.

Glad I’m not the only one, as mentioned above probably down for maintenance.

Another reason to recieve that message is if you attempted to continue your application on a different computer.

Maybe this has been discussed already, but I note that the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course ($60 online) may be used to obtain the certification for a concealed carry permit in some states. Something tells me Maryland won't accept this. See attached link...

It's been years, now, since my first class/application, and I honestly can't remember: is there a written quiz/test at the tail end of the class? Mrs. Occam is taking hers over the next two weeks, and is antsy about that. I'm assuring her that if Jeff G's mom can do it, any of us can do it, but she still wants to know so she can study up a bit. She's not the least bit worried about the practical shooty part.
