I just said “deez nutz”.“What kind of gun will you be carrying?“
That was asked of me.

After their shenanigans in 2013, why does anyone think the state cares about timeliness? I think they're perfectly content to take their time and let us sue them. How can they possibly meet the 90 day requirement for issuance given their current staffing levels? I know they are hiring admins to process apps, but a sworn trooper must conduct interviews as I understand it

They are content. The courts should not be content watching them stall. After their shenanigans in 2013, why does anyone think the state cares about timeliness? I think they're perfectly content to take their time and let us sue them.
DC makes non residents list their CCW firearms and requires compliance to magazine limits, so far that hasn’t been challenged and isn’t out of the realm of possibility for jurisdictions.Easy….”9mm pistol sir”….I forgot you guys have to register your guns though…ouch.
That reciprocity will be fun when it hits, however if it doesn’t hit soonish….
I want to apply….but it’s no business of the MSP what pistol(s) I would be carrying the few times a year I visit your state. Same for any out of state resident, I mean will Maryland ask us to register our pistols to get a MD permit….they couldn’t be serious

Maryland can expect the number to be around 10% to apply for carry permits. Will they carry everydau no, they will have it for when they need it.My guess is between 100,000 and 150,000. A number they are not going to want to advertise. I think this initial round, once we are sure W&C permits are being issued within the statutory limits and without "good and substantial reason" to all qualified applicants that the floodgates will open only limited by available training. That's going to be the barrier. Even if 5000 people per week were getting training across the state along with those training exempt, they could only get around 100K people trained by end of year. That doesn't include processing time.
I would like to see closer to 250,000 permits issued but I'm not sure there are enough resources to process even the flood we will get let alone the dam fully breaking. Remember what happened in 2013 with all of the processing issues the MSP had with about-to-be banned regulated long guns? I think that is about to happen again.

Dick Heller just filed another lawsuit in DC regarding the ammo limits and mag capacitiesDC makes non residents list their CCW firearms and requires compliance to magazine limits, so far that hasn’t been challenged and isn’t out of the realm of possibility for jurisdictions.
As for asking in the interview sure they do, again to be honest though having done this process twice before in MD I didn’t find the interview to be intrusive or intimidating. The interviewer is just following their script and when I went through this in 2021 I was pleasantly surprised at how much more accommodating they were versus the 2013 post Woolard era.
I wish someone would answer Musket when they ask what you will be carrying. That would be a hoot.
Yes among other edged weaponsIsn’t a handgun permit required to carry a switchblade?
When I got my wear and carry about 8 months ago the trooper conducted my interview by phone becasue of the RONA fears. She also asked when was the last time I was involved in a fist fight. LOLHow can they possibly meet the 90 day requirement for issuance given their current staffing levels? The list of questions would be interesting. I'm afraid it's things like " do you still beat your wife? No? Ah, so you used to. "When I got my wear and carry about 8 months ago the trooper conducted my interview by phone becasue of the RONA fears. She also asked when was the last time I was involved in a fist fight. LOL
The law says they shall issue within "within a reasonable time," they have been issuing within 90 days for years. After their shenanigans in 2013, why does anyone think the state cares about timeliness? I think they're perfectly content to take their time and let us sue them.
So shortly it'll be Heller III, DC 0Dick Heller just filed another lawsuit in DC regarding the ammo limits and mag capacities
Everything a politician does is posturing. The key is convincing him our constituency is important enough to posture to our benefit instead of it benefitting the Other Side.Fat Larry couldn't give a tinkers dam about us.
This was political posturing, nothing more.

He is one of many, upon whom I wouldn't urinate, if they were on fire.
