What about the other guns -- the overwhelming majority of them?

Exactly what do they mean by, "Guns on the streets"?

That loaded term conjures up all sorts of negative images, depending on who is doing the conjuring.

Do they intend to equate it with "street crime"? Drive by shootings? Drug corner deals gone bad? Gang fights and hits?

Those "guns on the streets," which really ARE on the streets, and for illegal purposes, are there for bad reasons.

But they often use that term sweepingly, to include lawfully owned guns by law abiding citizens for defense, sport, or hunting use. Or just to own, as is their right.

"Guns on the streets" is as misleading and deceptive a term as "assault weapons" used to describe modern sporting rifles.

That's a great point. Notice how back in the 1980s/early 1990s many states were "No Issue". Alabama prohibited carrying on property not owned by the gun owner until about 1990, and Texas didn't go "shall issue" until 1995. No doubt, liberal judges will view the No issue/May issue schemes as in line with text, history, and tradition. Now, I know people will say "but but what about the time of our founding or post reconstruction" the issue with that is that liberal judges don't like guns and will continue to rule accordingly.

I’m sure the same arguments could be made when slavery was abolished: “we had it this way for so long, what do you mean our history doesn’t support it?”

Depravation of rights is wrong no matter how long it’s been going on. It just so happens NY decided to deny the right to bear arms for about 100 years.

Remember, interracial marriage wasn’t legal until the 1960s (Loving v. Virginia). Doesn’t mean the denial of interracial couples the right to marry was any better just because it went on for so long.

And just like with Wentworth, there is a price tag associated with wanting it now. Us engineers have a saying that for some reason management needs to be reminded of weekly: High quality, fast delivery, low cost; you get to pick 2.

I want the laws I'm stuck living under to be well crafted, and inexpensive to comply with. I'm willing to wait a few months more to get that.

I may be an engineer, as well. Or at least I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Tired of shit going against us taking affect right away but things going for us has to be placed on hold. Feels 1773 all over again.

That is not an appropriate parallel. Your analogy is about building something that doesn't exist. Don't try an argue modify something either.

The 2A right is not something that has to be built or modified, it just needs to be adhered to by everyone.
