    Took my LiveScan on Monday at 12 noon, came home filled out the MSP Handgun permit online. Submitted my DD214 and 2x2 passport picture electronically with my reason as Self Defense in the manner prescribed in the SCOTUS Bruen case. The site allowed me to submit without the required documentation of threats. Received an email from MSP that my submission has been received and I will be contacted.

    Because I suspect the MD tyrants will play shenanigans I'm preparing now to secure an attorney and sue and anything else the attorney can come up with. If there are any attorneys out there in the Frederick area taking on this very important matter, please advise.

    I'm in it for the long haul.

    Speaking of the 16 hour classes. So, they're good for two years. Mrs. Occam is taking hers in a week (yay!). My permit renews in March. So, thought I'd join her for the second 8 of those 16 hours and get the renewal training over with along with my bride. I haven't seen anything that suggests the renewal training has to be more contemporary than the normal training. Anybody have a hard-and-factual answer on that one?

    The 8 hour recertification training has to be completed within the previous 2 years.

    You will need the signed 29-14 with your qualification score, signed by a QHIC instructor.

    —-
    Alternative option- take the 16 hours of training required for the Basic Pistol Instructor certificate and become a QHIC instructor yourself.

    Become qualified to teach others, and to sign off on the Mrs in 24 months when she’s up for renewal.

    I'm still super confused. Since the permit process was deemed unconstitutional, are we in a period where constitutional carry is legal until MSP fixes the process?

    As above in post #3,466
    My application was IAW
    § 5-306. Qualifications for permit
    Exemption from completing certified firearms training course (b) An applicant for a permit is not required to complete a certified firearms training course under subsection
    (a) of this section if the applicant:
    (1) is a law enforcement oficer or a person who is retired in good standing from service with a law enforcement agency of the United States, the State, or any local law enforcement agency in the State;

    (2) is a member, retired member, or honorably discharged member of the armed forces of the United States or the National Guard;
    (3) is a qualified handgun instructor;

    I meet (2) clearly with DD214 sent as attachment
    I meet (3) clearly with NRA Certified Instructor PSTOL

    note, I have not seen anywhere that NRA instructors are disqualified.

    ...Your clearance is no longer relevant.
    Actually, it IS still relevant.

    Sgt Pickle said during the Zoom meeting that applications filed with formerly acceptable "good & substantial" reasons are being processed NOW. Applications citing the USSC decision are being held pending direction from the AG.

    This means 'GiveMeABreak' would get processed while the rest of us languish. That seems quite relevant to me.

    I have kind of an edge case. My W&C expires 31 July. It was restricted to "while employed by DoD" and I just left that job. I took the 1-day renewal course last Sunday (26 June) and gave "Self-defense / NYSRPA v. Bruen" as the reason for the renewal application. I assume I applied in time so if MDSP takes more than 30 days to adjudicate, I won't have to start all over with a new application as if I had an expired permit. However, this only works out if MDSP removes the G&S requirement before 31 July. #Limbo

    Appreciate the recommendation. Your right, I do need to put my money where my mouth is and support MSI. Just gave them another $100 earmarked for the 2A cases. Volunteered in the past at their booths and I am an active member.

    Is anyone else having trouble actually applying? I get all the way to the end, it says "thank you for your business" after entering in your credit card number, but it never actually submits.

    Question about Livescan. I saw on MDSP site that they must be submitted 72 hrs after completion. I thought they were good for a few months? Just trying to figure out my timing with the training.
