For me, I like the idea of the Glock 19X which is a Glock 19 slide/barrrel on a Glock 17 frame. Have bigger hands and the purchase I can get on a 19 has always been less than perfect, but the 17 is on the money. Feel like the 19x is the best of both world's.

There are too many Glocks at this point. I am leaning towars 43x and 48. It all depends on what my wife likes though.

I switched from the 19, which i carried for years, to the 43xMOS and never looked back. Smaller and more concealable, seemingly lighter recoil impulse, and the holosun site i added is fantastic with my aging eyes.

I have a 43, wish the frame was a shade larger so I could get a better grip.

the 43x has a longer grip than the 43. I agree that if you are used to a true double stack you will find the 43/43x/48 to be a bit small. My hands always struggled a bit with the 19 and 17 sized frames so the transition was welcome.

Any time metal meets plastic, plastic will wear if there is any abrasive or sharp edges on the metal.
Generally speaking, metal mag release are flat and don’t have sharp edges. Therefore plastic mags are reasonably safe from being cut down.

However, most metal mags are made in a process which leaves a sharp edge where it contacts the mag release. That will keep cutting the plastic mag release until it fails.

That was my original concern. And why I posted that concern. So that others would be aware of the issue and take the proper steps to avoid it.

I received my 15 round SA mags.. Quickly found with my version of the pistol the magazine pops out at rounds 15, 14 and 13... Making it unreliable for 15 rounds. I wondered at 12.

I followed advice and replace the mag release with a metal one.

Flawless performance.

BUT once I did that the polymer 10 rounds mags were a b!tch to eject. So I dont use those.

In the end I roll with 3 (15) rounders(45) vs 3 (10) and 30....

I carry a G43 and while it does the trick, I have been looking into getting a 19. The 43’s capacity leaves me wanting tbh. Honestly have been i trilogies by the Sig 365xl but haven’t had the opportunity to shoot one

You've got to either do metal on metal or plastic on plastic. So if you want to run the Shield mags in a 43x/48, change out the mag release for the Shield Arms metal one. But once you do so, you're pretty much restricted to ONLY using the Shield Arms mags, since the metal mag release will tear up the 10 round factory versions.

Not that big of an issue, as long as:

1. Your Shield Arms mags are reliable in YOUR gun (experiences vary) and
2. You don't make a lot of visits to states/places with capacity limits. Then you'd want to use the factory mags and switch back the mag release to the factory one. And in my experience, changing out the mag release is really the only PIA aspect of working on Glocks.

I have both. The 19 is a backup. I prefer the 43x now. That being said it is yours, make the one YOU are comfortable with. I wont even worry if you go with sig.

I have seen issues with Gen 1 and Gen 2 Shield Arms S15 mags. They can have reliability issues with feeding and stripping a new round from a locked open slide.

I won't use them, but will revisit when they come out with a gen 3 model. I am waiting for PSA to release their micro dagger mags.

Until then, it's factory G43 mags for me.

I love the Glock 48 for here in FL, I carry it 3pm in slim fit T shirt, and khaki golf shorts and no printing at all. I’m very accurate with it.

If you are going to carry a Glock get a 48 or 43x, but I really recommend the 48 more for carry

I also carry the regular p365 a lot as well, especially pocket carry for that one. Sometimes if I need deep deep concealment I’ll carry the p365 3pm, it just disappears.

The original Glock 43 is great but a PITA to shoot well, I had one and eventually got good with it but once the p365 came out it was rendered useless as the p365 has much better recoil and accuracy.

Interesting. I have a full metal handgun as my main self defense. Plastic feel also concerns me. I'm young, so it's not just a generational thing I'll Google the 32 ppk. Would you say the 32acp is wildly less powerful than 9mm? Google says 360 ft/lb vs 140ft/lb. Much less stopping power I guess.

Yes. Run FMJ. 60gr JHP sometimes have feeding issues in 32s and none really penetrate far enough. Usually 8-10” in gel. Hit a rib or an arm bone and then a rib and JHP might not hit vitals.

32acp is not as good. But it is for sure a ton better than 22lr and plenty of people carry that. And 32 ball will penetrate 18-20”. The PPK as a metal frame could be loaded hot. Especially if you got an extra power recoil spring. Loading 85gr XTPs hot. Like 850-950fps I’d feel comfortable running Those and getting enough penetration so long as they feed well (and I’ve run a couple of hundred rounds to make sure they feed well).

In the medium term I’ll probably carry my Cz50 once I can get a PPK IWB for it. Colder weather concealed or open carry I’ll probably carry my G19. At some point I am going to get a 9mm (maybe 30SC) micro pistol.

If someone isn’t too serious, a 22lr is enough to stop them. Less serious than that, having a gun will stop them.

I found Hydrashocks for my P32. Haven't shot gel but they sure are formidable looking .....for a .32.

This. The PP/PPK series are perfectly mannered in the original .32 ACP. And the trigger is outstanding - it's not often recognized, but the Walther PP is the genesis of the Hammerli 200-series target pistols. Which won a lot of Olympic medals. The guns will shoot.

Late to the party, but so will PP/PPK derivatives in most cases depending on the caliber. I liked my P64s when I had them, but they were pretty harsh with hotter Makarov loadings even with a strong recoil spring. Not awful, but I wouldn’t want to shoot more than a box of ammo and those with big or low grip strength are not going to like it.

My Cz50 is my little honey. Very accurate, light recoil, just an overall pleasure to shoot. Been a trial and a half figuring out how to get it reliable, but I think I’ve figured out the issues (EURO only 7.65 browning. Don’t use American 32acp or it is likely to have some jamming issues first round or two off the magazine. It’s a difference in the extractor groove size and shape between the two that changes how the rounds stack in the magazine resulting in more pronounced diving from the first couple of rounds and jamming against the feed ramp. It’s been months and hundreds of rounds trying to reload for it before I finally figured it out).

With factory Geco/Fiocchi ball I’d CCW my Cz50.

BUT, little tiny sights on it. A perfect 5yd gun. Not sure I’d want to be in a defensive shooting with it at 15+yds unless it was good daylight…

Then again, unless I get caught in some gangland $#it, I don’t see ever needing to discharge a handgun in self defense at 15+yes unless it’s a charging bear. In which case I’ll just be glad the Cz50 doesn’t have any sharp edges and has smooth low blade and notch sights for when the bear shoves it up my a$$

PS I have a Glock19 I’ll carry when I can conceal it in longer clothing. I am looking to get something smaller eventually for warmer weather like a G48, 26 or maybe an LC9s or Shield.

Seems to mostly expand, but also very shallow penetration.

It looks like your best bets are either Corbon or just run ball. Otherwise either expansion is iffy, or penetration is often too shallow. If you’d trust reloads and can get them, Hornady XTP 60gr or Speer Gold dot 60gr look like they’d perform well, but they need to be loaded hotter than Fiocchi and Speer load them for reliable expansion and penetration.

Also doing that, and the Corbon, really should not be run in a plastic framed direct blowback 32. Or only rarely as you are going to be pushing “+p” or “+p+” (not that it is a thing) pressures/energy levels to do that.

That said, 850 or so FPS is pretty mild for a 60gr. 950 or so is around full power for a 60gr. Really you probably want to try to push it to around 1000fps.
