Please forgive my ignorance but shortly after I watched this video I found myself wondering-- what will the WPD do with this information?

I'm guessing they will write some sort of report to document the stop.

It’s interesting to me how little attention an OC holstered handgun draws almost everywhere.
most are too busy to notice plus if it's at 3:00 your arm/hand is mostly covering it. the ones who notice prob think you're a cop or the like. there's an open carry forum and most also report little to no one noticing or caring. that's been my experience also though now i pretty much do aiwb.

That's basically always been my reaction. Almost like I don't 'notice', but I do of course. My brain goes right to "I wonder what he's(or she's) carrying or what holster is that?". When I see a person printing, my mind goes straight to "I wonder if it's legit..." or something like that.

Shot the Falling Steel match this morning at the AGC and afterwards another MDS member and I went to get a bite to eat at the Main Stage Grille in that shopping center on the road away from the dump with the Weiss supermarket. It's hot out and I didn't want to untuck my wet RSO shooting jersey and drape it over my OWB 320 so OC it was.

When we were seated the waitress asked if we were on a team (sports bar type of place) and then reading the jerseys asked if we had been shooting this morning? We gave her a few of the deets and she gave us the 10% team discount on our meal. We were there over an hour, walked through the place to use the bathroom to wash hands when we first got there and to use the head before I left. No Karens, no SWATTING and no issues, just the way it should be.
10% discount? I should've joined you guys for lunch lol

I moved to MD from Utah and have since escaped back to free America and live in SW Missouri.

I had a carry permit in Utah, Oregon before that, Alabama before that, and Georgia before that. Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas (all within 15-45 minutes of me) are all Constitutional Carry. Maryland was the only place I lived in the last 25 years where I didn’t carry on a daily basis. I got in the habit a long time ago to look at the waist of every single person I came across. I saw a lot more guns in 7 years in MD than I’ve ever seen elsewhere. Inadvertent showing, printing, adjusting, whatever. Lots of guns.

If people actually looked, they’d be surprised how many people in MD are carrying. Licensed or not, it happens a lot (inadvertent poetry).

I do not know the number of Gun Carry folks, i do think at one time the state published those numbers.

Really? You think a legal CCW holder (who are among the most law abiding people out there) is going to shoot a guy who has an AR slung over his shoulder and isn’t doing anything? How is he a threat then? Give me a break.
What about someone open carrying a pistol with a permit? Do you not like that either?

CCW holders may be the most law abiding but IDK if that makes them the smartest people. Based on what I saw in my classes 95% are kosher but there is that 5% that makes you say WTF? Shit can go sideways quick so why take the risk. There are other ways to promote 2A rights.

Open carry, pistol or long, is verboten where I am. In part due to the Black Panthers back ago and in part due to Karens freaking out over open carry videos.

Open carry where allowed does not worry me as that's the law of that state. Concealed carry printing does worry me. Chit's supposed to be concealed; if you can't manage that IDK about the rest.

One of the terms of a CA CCW is to report any LEO contact within 24 hours. A clear message in my training was don't F up. Even if open carry was legal where I am the CLEO would, I have no doubt, yank a permit after a situation like this. Poor judgment; other ways to make your point.

Stoveman, not sure folks understand legal & illegal, some folks believe people crossing our borders is legal . They say those folks have not broken any of our laws.
My thought is people are confused about many things including gender, not sure any of it will get sorted out.

A lot of open carry angst is situational. Carrying an EBR in a retail setting is so unusual as to require immediate assessment and probably withdrawal from a typical urban/Karen-infested suburban area.

In ConCarry states, pretty much meh.

BGOS? Common sense? Lotta unstable Progressives around where I live; I wouldn't trust many of them with firearms.

I've viewed OC in any form as a definitive way to prove your assailant was interested in doing you harm. If they see a gun and still decide to try you on then their intent was pretty damned clear. On the other hand I want to be left alone. I think if I ever get a permit I'd carry based on where I was. Mall in MoCo? Concealed. Lower shore of Delaware or Maryland? Open

How often do you think cops have interactions with permit holders because they are carrying? Not common.

While I agree that the LEO did not give the “perfect performance”, it is naive to even expect it. Maryland LEO have a long anti-carry culture. That’s going to take some time and training to fix. As of now, the armed people they come across are mostly bad guys.
Sadly... a point which most folks are either not aware of or simply gloss over when they want to carp about the interactions as they are reported.

The fact is that we have been under the infringements of the Bill passed and enacted in the 1972 MGA, which gave us May Issue rather than Shall Issue in this State.

Observations: (Which will errantly be assumed to be a blind defense of Police by those who like to argue. :sad20: Save it.)

Expecting a culmination of 40 years of bad law and training to disappear overnight is simply ridiculous.
New information must be placed in front of those who are faced with this issue on a day to day basis.

And... Expecting the LEO to show up, take one look at the CCW Permit and simply say Thank you, have a nice day... is unrealistic. They are answering an "armed person" call. That call REQUIRES an investigation be conducted to determine the facts of the matter. That is what these LEOs did. Don't expect that LEO to simply accept the story from the person they are investigating, without conducting a proper investigation to...
    1) Insure the person IS who they claim to be.
    2) That the permit they possess is in fact valid.
    3) That they are certain of what laws and conditions apply.
    4) That all laws are complied with.
    5) All Civil Rights are properly guaranteed.

These LEOs DID that. And once everything was confirmed... The person continued on their way with no further delay. AND SEVERAL LEOs were then apprised of a condition of law which they were not aware of prior to the incident. Education is a GOOD thing. We can ALL benefit from it.

Records were requested by the primary LEO. She needs that information for her report of the action on that call.

The comment made by the female LEO, has been questioned over and over in this thread. The general assumption seems to be that she was making a statement. Yet, if one listens to the inflection of her voice... it is not a stretch to know that her "statement" was more of a question posed to the other LEOs on scene.

AND... While folks are talking about what the police don't know about guns. MAYBE some of the "gun people" who keep referring to that AR pistol as a "long gun" as if it then falls under the long gun open carry laws of the State... should just maybe rethink just how much they "know" about guns. That brace attached to it is one obvious clue. The short barrel is another. And as someone else pointed out... if it WAS a SBR, It is covered under the related laws. It is registered as a pistol. Because it IS a pistol, Not a log gun.

As I stated prior... My issues I have with this stop/investigation, was the cavalier manner in which the LEOs treated the property of the person stopped. There was NO need to abuse the trunk lid of the subject's vehicle. And also the manner in which the firearms were handled SHOULD be a cause for concern. Education is needed in that respect. And I would say the same to them or their Supervisor.

Complying with the law and the restrictions put on me to have a CCW is BGOS? IDTS.

Keep on with the open carry foolishness and see what that gets you. Recall MD looks to CA for gun control legislation.

The Supreme Court may make all of this moot but I think that's wishful thinking.
There is NOTHING wrong with carrying the pistol in the manner that the subject of this case did... AS THE LAW RELATES. I understand what you are saying, that the person should not be doing it at the local hardware store. Because.. it may cause unwanted negative attention. But I believe that if you go out west where pistols and revolvers are carried in that manner all day every day. You just may begin to realize that it only happens because folks are now accustomed to the practice. The person in this case is an activist who is peacefully attempting to bring positive attention to the 2A. He is risking his own personal freedom to do so. And... so long as he does so in a safe and respectful manner... More power to him.

Screeching on an Internet forum isn’t going to prevent others from openly carrying firearms. You don’t get to choose how people exercise their rights. You don’t get to choose anything for anyone.

It’s also not going to prevent volunteer agents of the state from enforcing laws and regulations that stand against civil and human rights.

LOL RD. I'm in CA and I'm familiar with a good number of western states. Most folks in the rural areas don't carry but may have a truck gun or carry concealed. That's what I've seen; firearms abound and everyone knows it but no need to advertise it and per my 30 years of experience, rarely revealed.

Again, there is zero need to open carry a AR pistol in a Lowes or other shop in MD or the West; unless you can use it as a pry bar for blocks or bricks or what have you. Or, if you want to make a political point.

And like I said before there are better ways to make that point.

Walking around with an AR pistol in MD is not the way to win converts. That shit failed in CA; does anyone think it will work better in MD?
