What did you do at your reloading bench today?

Just completed prepping and priming 800 44 magnum cases. Starting with some hard cast 240 gr swc 5.6- 6.0 grains of Bullseye then shifting to some Hornady 240gr ftx

Tried a 60% gloss black on some .309 230gr and still had to double coat for coverage. I believe I read in one of the threads to wait until winter to PC, so I may put this on hold for now and explore other projects

Prepped 100 pieces of 257wby brass. Have some 90gr absolute hammers coming I plan to use for filling crop damage tags. Plan to use ramshot magnum to push them around 3900fps.

How do you like that 309/230 bullet? I'm not a big fan of the boat-tail. Supposedly, the shank diameter can fit on a GC but the boat-tail defeats the purpose of a non-GC sub-sonic round. I experienced gas cutting even when running them in sub-sonic velocities. I tried beagling the mold to create a flat base and larger overall dia along the engagement surfaces but wind up destroying the mold.

I cut my losses and bought an NOE one with a similar profile, but plain-based instead. I've yet casted for it.

I’ve yet to to test them. They are loaded up over 10.7gn of A1680 and I’ll be heading back up to camp for a week starting on the 14th for chrono and paper testing

We shall see what they do. I used the 101gr barnes lrx last year @3750fps but have never found another box.

Yes it will cling better in the dry air but some powders even from same source clings better than others. For my lt blue, lime green and red I have no problem coating in the summer. Sometimes being over carpet when your swishing the bowl can help. Sometimes not.

Berrys 350 grain .500 S&W came in, made some .458 350 grain HCFNNG for the 45/70 and finished the lead up making some 475 grain .500 HCFNGC. Will be ordering some more lead.

Converted berdan steel cased 7.62x54R into boxer primed SRP pockets using a mini-lathe and the RCBS swager die. Loaded up some ladder test loads using 7,8,9,10 grains of SW cleanshot and 16 grains of 2400 shooting a .314" 160 grain lee cast bullet, gaschecked and powdercoated.

Went to the range today and all fired without hangfires or misfires. 2400 loads experienced gas blowby, but all fired point of aim at sight set to 300m. Cleanshot shot surprisingly cleaner (hence the name), no gas blowby, and point of aim ranged from sight set to 500m (7gn) to 100m (10gn).

Catching up on a few days:
1. Finished the Ginex SRPs in the 650 loading 9mm. Simply put, the Ginex SRPs are too hard for striker-fired pistol use. They work fine in my PCCs, so the 9mm I rolled with them is getting put into MPX and Glock big stick mags. They're OK in 1911s if you use a fairly powerful mainspring (18-19lbs).
2. Loaded up some 9mm with Fed SRP, which I know works fine in my pistols (or did last time I used it).
3. Swapped out my Lee 9mm sizing die with a Dillon sizing die, and installed a 3D printed "ramp" to push cases in that get knocked slightly out of the shell holder on the 650. Works like a charm, my problems seem to have been resolved quite neatly.

Frankly, I am less than impressed with Ginex primers in general. They seem slightly oversized compared to Fed and CCI, which makes for a harder insertion even on cases with no crimping. I'm going to use what I bought on 5.56, and then probably just pounce on the various Natzchez shipments of "inappropriate but workable" CCI primers.

300bo 85gr cavitator buzzed right through 16” gel block and went high and out of second block, clocked at 1900fps. Gel path showed a rotation pattern about 2” wide. 13.8gn H110.

Wheel weight 230gr powder coated in 300bo (1050fps). Tumbled after first 16” block and ended up about 26” in. No expansion but nose was slightly bent. 10.7gn A1680
