For the second time, this has happened to me.

I build an AR PCC as a braced pistol. I think "this looks cool and feels good in the hand. Has a nice balance". I post pics.

THEN I take it to the range and shoot it, and think "oh hell no, why did I build this? I hate pistol braces!"

    Ordered a 16" barrel last night. :D

No issues with any of mine. For those of us with disabilities they are a lifesaver. #ADDstrong

They have their place. If I didn't use one as a backpack gun, there would be zero reason to even use one if just for the range.

I am confident that braced pistols are here to stay (so long I as my vote counts) . If I ever become disabled, I will be thankful that the option is available. But between a brace and an actual stock as an option, I'll take the stock.

I'm weird I guess. The SBA3 on my 8.5" 300 blk feels incredibly comfortable to me. I don't miss a stock whatsoever when shooting it. My brother's SBA4s feel even better. Which brace are you using?

I frankly don't understand the hate. Sure, they feel different, but AKs feel different than AR 15s and AR 15s feel different than...and on and on.

I take them for what they are. Nothing more.

    To each his own.

I am looking forward to trying put my first braced pistol. Haven't got it to the range yet, but since it's a 22 I think it should feel about the same as at he. Hoping its a shooter!

The tail hook sucks and is overpriced. The SBA3, when I have accidentally shouldered it in the course of using it as intended, is honestly more comfortable than a lot of the rifle stocks I’ve used. For whatever reason a lot of European and former commie countries don’t really value an ergonomic stock on semi autos.

I got my Tailhook a long time ago on sale. Might have been on sale for a reason.

I am not a fan of braces because I am unreasonably drawn to having "the real thing", so I tend to SBR my shorter stuff. But for things that will never make 29OAL, it's certainly better than not being able to have it at all.

The SBA3/SBA4 series of braces are very good. Not all braces area created equal.

Like you, I only use my brace on my arm, as designed, and definitely hate it. Makes it itchy.

    <insert aft meme here>

seriously: the same brace can feel good or bad depending where you mount the sight, and where the brace ends up on your ... ah arm. I use a very high 30" sight riser so I get a clear sight picture with firm contact on my, ah forearm.

Yes, SBA4 if you want the most comfort and best feel, 13.25" LOP and don't mind a relatively bulky brace. The wide rubber pad, relatively long LOP, standard M4 buffer tube and sturdy design have no equal, and can be as comfortable or more so than many stocks. SBA3 is a little flimsy in comparison, 13" LOP but still comfortable, and a lot less bulky. The SB-PDW, SB-HBPDW and Maxim braces are also nice, wide comfortable, but minimal bulk, 12.5"-13" LOP and have a twin rail PDW stock design. Magpul, GHW tailhook, and KAK shockwave braces suck in comparison.

for comparison, 6" tiles in my shop, with trigger lined up, so you can see the differences in LOP, the SBA3 has a folding adapter and LOP limiter to stay under the 13.5" max ATF "guideline".
upper left= SB PDW, right= MOE SL stock
    lower left=SBA4, right= SBA3

For what you paid for a new barrel, you could have ordered a shiny Form 1.

    I hate braces.
