This long wait also kills the market for used NFA items, especially suppressors which quickly show wear.
$200 and 8 Mos wait for a can. You'll keep the can forever. Might as well buy new.

Going to have to go through Congress for that. There is a lot he can do through EOs and the regulatory process. But he can’t ban things that aren’t restricted by legislation.

A happy thought for you, shotguns can be banned. They can be reclassified as destructive devices at the whim of the director of the ATF (except .410 shotguns). It’s just no sane one would because they meet the sporting exception clause.

But that is how street sweepers got reclassified and confiscated/banned.

Likely just see import restrictions. Probably no braced pistols coming in from overseas. Likely a push to classify braces as stocks. Things like that. Can likely try to reposition resources to slow down NFA approvals (just like Trump did with the USPS). He can’t actually shut that down, confiscate existing NFA items, etc.

But we could see multi year NFA approvals.

But IMHO I don’t think he’ll monkey with that. But I do expect braced pistols/but pistols to be verboten for import very quick and well as possibly any semi-auto rifle being banned for import. Probably a push for the ATF to do a lot more auditing. Which might take resources away from NFA approvals.

Electronic print submission could shave some of the total time, as could USPS not routing Priority Mail from Baltimore to Martinsburg vis Harrisburg

When your NICS check is delayed, it adds a few extra months to the waiting period.

ATF has been stalling on the new eForm4 for at least a year. Based on their recent actions, don’t expect it to be a priority. I hope I’m wrong but I would bet it’s at least a year off, if not more.
