Had $100 of bonus on my Bass Pro card. Ordered a Vortex Venom. Was due today. Check on the status, order cancelled. Called support, the recording stated while on hold; "if your order was cancelled we do apologize but stock levels are changing frequently."

    Wow!

Can you imagine if you did not show up to work and you told your boss when he calls your mobile phone; "I'm sorry, but my availability changes frequently" :D

I just ordered somethings from them yesterday. Then I received an email that one item is delayed. They said they will cancel that item if it is not available within 60 days.

I bought several containers of powder on sale, paid the hazmat fee to ship to my house. I got an email that said they canceled all but 1 container of powder, then 6 minutes later an email that it shipped. I tried to cancel, because I was now paying $46 for 1 pound of powder, but it was too late.

Customer service basically said, sorry we can't control hazmat, you're on your own. BPS decided they would lose a customer for life over an otherwise minor issue. They will not get another penny from me. Poor customer service...

Their website doesn't work very well from a customer perspective. I was looking at a Savage 10T-SR and then found out you can't order the rifle to maryland online. Then when I went in store I was told it wasn't going to be available at the sale price because it was out of stock and probably won't be back in stock until after the sale ends. Why advertise a sale then? Pretty crappy customer experience all around, but I chalk that up partially to the joys that are Maryland induced.

They did this to me a few weeks ago. Ordered in stock ammo. They charged me then two days later canceled my order and refunded me. Stating that stock levels fluctuate

I HATE crap like that. You think you got something, quit looking for it elsewhere, and they yank the rug out from under you. The frosting on the cake is when you go back to the other sites you were checking out earlier they are all OOS on that item. Grrrrrrrrr.

I had this happen with Cabelas, ordered some ammo, never heard anything for a week so I checked and it was canceled. I was never charged. This didn't really bother me though since I understand what they are going through.

In the end it worked out well because when I came back later I found different ammo at an even better deal than my original purchase.

It seems intentional. I look daily at ammo prices and they are always on the extreme low end but never have in stock and or cancel like above.

I've had 4/5 of the items ordered in bass pro get cancelled because they didn't have it in there system...called in the store in Hanover and they said they have it in stock locally even when the website says they don't, and they told me that the website has been pretty whack lately. I stopped relying on their "availability" and just call directly to confirm if I can have something ordered for store pickup.

I ordered Romeo Zero from Optics Planet when I had a time-sensitive coupon. When nothing showed up after about three weeks I called (last week). While I was on line they tracked down my order and told me that the order was on back-order status and they couldn't ship it to me until approximately June 11th. They offered to cancel the order and refund my money if I wished. When I instructed them to keep the order live (and I even made a change in the MOA of the red dot) they indicated that they would certainly honor the coupon even though it would be well past the expiration date when they were able to ship. They apologized for the inconvenience and indicated that they would give me an additional 10% off on the order for my trouble.

I'm not happy about the delay, but my Sig 365XL won't land in my hot hands until late next week anyway, so it's a minor annoyance. The customer service is a big plus. I've never had bad experiences with Optics Planet; I'll continue dealing with them. Dealing with BP, on the other hand, is akin to having to report to the principal's office.

I've lost count of how many times Brownells has taken my order for ammo, only to cancel more than half of it due to 'changing levels in inventory'.

    Or people stealing the items.

Its poor inventory program that doesn't update to their website. I complained about it in another thread about shipping issues. I have been waiting on some items for a month now. Things have trickled in for pickup over the last 3 weeks.

They’ve actually fulfilled everything for me the last few months. Though I do have 5 boxes of hornady frontier 62gr spite point that has been delayed about 6 weeks now. I suspect they are going to cancel it. Which is going to be a PITA since it was on a gift card. So I’ll have to figure out which one it gets refunded to.

Cabelas has always been the same way and I do not feel sympathetic to their cause. They use their store stock as shipping stock and literally have no clue how much stock is actually available to ship. So you get times when you place orders and two days later they cancel it because they can't find any to ship OR they just send you an email with a small line under products saying it was changed to backordered. No subject line notification there is a possible problem with your order and a change of status of some items. The people you call care, but their IT staff and corporate couldn't care at all. Their inventory tracking system is flat out a joke. They are expensive compared to every other retailer and have failed to deliver on many orders for me and failed to notify me properly of changes in my order status.

My daughter just ordered fishing lures as a friend gave her a gift card for watching their dog. I helped her pick out the right type for creek fishing out here. She got a statement 2 of ten were backordered. She said they weren't backordered when I ordered them and was frustrated waiting for it all and said she literally couldn't keep track of what was coming and when. I said "That Cabelas and BPS for you."

I switched over to an Amazon card for rewards as everything at Cabelas and BPS is overpriced. I want to buy a new Moultrie elite feeder for a friends spot we need to clean the deer out. Cabelas wanted $170 for it an Amazon was selling it for $159. But if I shop online Rogers, tractor supply or B&H Photo will likely carry it for $20 less or have a similar cheaper model for sale.
