Tried ordering 1k 124 gr. xtreme pills on cabelas and got this....

I talked to a cabelas sales rep and she couldn't comprehend the situation as well...fedex employee probably saw bullets and got triggered.

Anyone else had to deal with this?

Perhaps the carrier saw "bullets" and assumed they were actually cartridges without the ORM-D designation on the package?

I tried to order ammo a few years back from sportman's warehouse in Utah and got the same results. When I called sportsman's warehouse and talked to a customer service rep I was told they will not ship ammo or components to Maryland because Maryland has a law that will not allow Utah residents to purchase ammo in Maryland. They are responding in like terms to our communist state!

Wow, that's ridiculous...there's a law that states MD residents cannot buy ammo from Utah (or in similar context)?? That's unheard of and new to me.

Yeah, probably just a misunderstanding...Cabelas said that they will re-ship it when they can. They said that everything is a go on their end.

google is your friend, I am not.
My guess is that the package was labeled wrong. Shipping volumes are astronomical, so its likely that the warehouse people are not putting the proper stickers on boxes. Trying to ship an ORM-D box through air would be a problem, I think. Chances are, it'll get returned for re-shipment.

Absolutely not. 777dogman is completely wrong. But, customer service people often completely make shit up.

I figured after a bit of googling. This is not the first time I've heard things like this when they see we live in the peoples republic of MD.

The city of Annapolis and MOCo still have laws on the books about no shipping ammo. These were overturned in court, but still exist. Many retailers use this as reasoning of not shipping to either location and sometimes the state. They could misinterpret this and use it as an excuse.

First off, I get bullets from Xtreme all the time and they usually come USPS.

Secondly, when I order powder, it comes FedX. I usually have that delivered to my shop because they usually want a signature.

Lately, FedX has had a bug up their asses and it has had nothing to do with guns. It's more to do with sh!thead delivery people lying.

Everglades Ammo (whom I switched away from Xtreme) ships in USPS priority boxes and the return address says "Everglades" on it
I bet they do something nice for the local USPS like delivers in a truck or something. Maybe gives them free bullets cause that has got to be a pain for the local post office.
BUT! HEY! , flat rate box!

This past 2 weeks, if a USPS has required signature, they have not even bothered walking down my driveway and knocking. Just the other day, I saw the guy drive up to mailbox and put the tag into the mailbox. Post office said "we'll look into that".

Yeah but USUALLY Cabela's ships in basically plain cardboard boxes. There should not be any indication on the outside of the box as to what's inside. PAcking slip is usually inside as well. Otherwise, your explanation is plausible. Maybe the box/package was damaged/partially opened.
