I live right around the corner. I'll see if I can do it on Friday.

You may want to type up something like this and bring it with you on Friday to the Maryland Popo barracks. It may save you a return trip.... :innocent0

Okay, obvious questions, but perhaps I'm missing something:

    1. How the heck are they going to know what everyone who has arms they haven't registered? They'd have to come by with a warrant and ask, presumably... at every home... in the state. Yeah, okay. I assume they'd go after those who had HQLs and 77Rs on file first.

    2. What do they do if the above occurs, and the registered and unregistered arms you have that they're looking for aren't in the state?

When I sold one of mine to Cabela's a few years ago, I made a point of calling MSP and asking if it was going to be a problem if I sold a registered arm out of state--I didn't even specify if it was to a FFL or not. I was told that once it's out of the state, they don't care.

So, hypothetically... If registered stuff isn't there when they drop by, and you tell them it's in another state, they can't really compel you to bring it back, right? And I don't know how they could accuse you of lying in that situation, or force you to provide proof, either. Worst they could do is toss your house, I guess?

TL;DR: If your stuff's not in the state, can MSP compel you to bring it back, or to provide proof it's not in-state? And how do they possibly plan to enforce this crap?

    Am I totally naive, or?

I was about to post the same thing... what if you have firearms stored out of state... at a second residence or at a relatives house.

Keep a notarized statement of that on hand, and hand it to them if they ever come to ask.

Give something to them and hopefully they'll go away satisfied with that.

They sure do have a lot of logistics and procedures to work out if this legislation becomes law. How is NY and CT handling this?

If you bought a lower on a 77r in md and then built an ar pistol...is it technically already registered or is the registry they discuss yet another registry?

I’m seriously considering testifying and asking them to rewrite the bill to just ban ALL firearms and have no exemptions whatsoever in it regardless of who it is(LEOs etc). Maybe then the hunters/target shooters/fudds will get off of their a$$e$ and help. I was taking to a co worker the other day and he said “I’ve hunted and shot guns all of my life. I just don’t see the need or reason for anyone needing an AR15 with big magazines.” I replied “Well, first off people don’t have to show a need or reason. Second, after they ban them, they’re coming for your beloved 300 Win Mag and semi auto trap guns.” I will help fight as long as I’m here. Hell, I will probably help even more once I leave because I’ll have more money to do so.

This was my point earlier. Why do they want us to register stuff that they already know we have (via a 77R)? Its already "registered".

If so, what is the real purpose of this NEW list? Tax a right (money grab)? Future confiscation list (if so, what is wrong with the one they currently have)? I swear, they just want us in jail and penniless.

    I sure hope I don't have to register stuff I don't have, because...I don't have it.

What’s wrong with the list they already have they already know that it’s corrupted they’ll need a new one if they’re actually going to do confiscation

That is probably the reason for doing this. I am glad I don't have anything that needs to be registered.

I am not registering anything because I have nothing that needs to be registered. I would like to point out though, they tried this in CT and NY and they only had about a 10% or less compliance rate. Not even the police registered their personal weapons. Also, the long gun registration that Canada tried cost them MILLIONS and did stop or solve any crimes during the time they had it.

Don't just post here, write your Delegate. Doesn't matter if she is a rabid anti-gunner. Remind them this is unenforceable and the SS, I mean State Troopers, don't have the time or resources to enforce this.

    We HAVE crossed the line!

Atterbeary is a typical far left Howard County liberal who has no respect or knowledge of either the constitution or the citizens of Maryland. We HAVE crossed the line folks. Her treatment of those giving testimony in the last hearings was rude, boorish, ignorant, and shameful. The Maryland state
government is completely out of control! Those of us registered as Republicans should possibly shift to democrat so we can at least limit the worst candidates from making it to the general election. Citizens get no protection from the courts. Our congress is at a standstill. The President is a loose cannon but there is actually no one better!! Yes folks, we have crossed the line!!!

I live right around the corner. I'll see if I can do it on Friday.

The biggest reason I want to do this is because there have been at least two handguns I have sold out of state, via a MD FFL. If the MD FFL put it in and out of their bound book to an out of state FFL, there would be no 77r and MSP would still believe I own the handguns.
Prior to getting a C&R, I didn't keep meticulous records of what I bought and sold. I transferred a Flat Top .44 Mag Blackhawk to Christian Soldier to ship to an out of state buyer. I have no records of the transfer.

In America, the burden of proof would be on the government, but we're in Marylandistan.

As I have said before I have nothing to register, but THIS IS THE LINE IN THE SAND. Enough is Enough! Until they go into Baltimore and fight house by house to get every weapon from every gangster it should not even be a question of our compliance. WE WILL NOT COMPLY. Make us all criminals, we don't care. Let them try and get the man power to come get them!

Then we will be criminals just like the politicians, they are violating our rights protected in the Constitution! THAT IS A CRIME!

At some point this is going to turn into a real "hot" war.

Ok let me get this. The State who gives driver licenses, does even have a clue how many illegals live here, have obtained weapons and have been arrested for felonious actions, much less show for court date? And they dont even have a populated task force to even enforce this drill on a population of law abiding citizenry? Am I missing something here....oh yes and no cooperation by some jurisdictions with Federal Law Enforcement? Now were going retro to voluntary registration with a fee or better yet a tax on ownership. This is an unenforceable exercise in complete stupidity. If your business with regard to the State didnt exist when you purchased....then game over. Why because they don't even know what, where, when just like people who are here illegally. No?
