The USP 9 SD does not have all the features of the Tactical series. ( Damn you...HK engineer dudes)
No barrel o- ring, standard trigger. no " tactical" inscription on the slide. taller adjustable sight and a threaded barrel ( 13.1 LH).
But it is still one of my favorite handguns ever.. Especially when suppressed.

Beat me to it, I was out to get alcohol. I hate having to replace those damn o-rings anyway. My favorite only second to the p7m8.....and maybe my uspc45.......or maybe my LEM....or maybe its my.....nevermind. Not a tactical in the true sense but real nice anyway. If I wanted something real purty I'd get a Sig, if I needed something to take to war.....no question the HK. C nailed it in his post.

Scar you need a 30 round clip to go with that SD or at least a jet funnel

No Funnel jet or 18/30 round mags, just the standard 15 rounders. I like the shorter grip and it feels comfy, better than my Glock 19. once in a while It rides CCW, the funnel jet makes it bulkier.

I see. That makes sense but I never carry my SD so I can have all the cool stuff lol

Ever since I started carrying one of my p7 versions (p7m8 seems to be the model for me) nothing else feels comfortable anymore. Just preference I guess
    Nice guns though.

So where is the OP? What are you getting? let us know what you decide. Either one would be a great choice. Good luck

The HK USP Tactical is one of the finest handguns ever made when you use Accuracy and Reliability as a standard.

The only thing the SIG has over the HK is a smaller grip, but the SIG .45 is a lower capacity model too.

But SIGs are the only pistols designed to clear rooms by themselves. Just throw a SIG inside a room full of hostiles, take a smoke break and comeback later.

just make sure to announce in an official sounding voice " CLEAR"

if you are going Gem-tech... go with the Multi-mount. Tundra is also Okay
BTW... both HK USP9SD and SIG P226 tactical have barrels that are threaded 13.1LH . A suppressor with this thread pitch will fit both guns.

We have NEVER had to repair a HK at the shop. We see several SIG's a year for reliability issues. That says alot.

    Honestly though....
Now do not hang me b/c I have no idea the actual stats....

Is there any government agency that runs with HK's as their official firearm?
How many HK owner's compared to Sig owners..
Does HK sell CPO and Police Turn in's by the thousands?
Are you repairing Sigs from range warriors or from LEO and military?
I know Sig has taken a dump with their newer pistols but I'm an "Old" school Sig lover.
I'm not defending Sig (ok I'm trying half ass)

If I were to buy another brand of handgun it would be an HK

Now shotguns I am a Beretta Lover till I die.....

YES! I'm OCD when I find something I Like................

Yeah it will definently be for suppressor use. Go hard or go home ya know? But i do like the idea of just buying both. Ha!

Then Get the USP. you can always get a Sig later and use the same suppressor

What do you guys think of Gem-tech silencers?

There is a group buy Midcounty is trying to organize for Gemtechs right now
I'm in for it. The more the cheaper.

I service frearms from many places, L.E.O., Private and Federal Agencies. Without the permission from said agencies I wont go into who, but I tend to not get along with "range warriors". I dont see much serious wear from use on your SIGS though.

Even if SIGS were issued 10/1 (Im using this in a hypothetical term) compared to HK then, statistically I should see at least one HK now and then for problems, but I dont. I have never had one in for repairs. I cant tell you how many SIGS are in circulation but its not so dramatic that it invalidates SIGS current Q.C. issues.

HK dosent recycle pistols that im aware of.

Im not sure why you are defending SIG when you know they have been slacking on Q.C. in your very own post. It dosent make much sense to me. If HK takes a massive Q.C dump tomorrow then I will stop praising them, until then they work better than any production combat handgun currently available. If something comes along that is better then I will admit it (The New FNP .45Tactical shows alot of promise, but for now its vaporware)

If you want a list of HK pistol use, then do some checking. The list is HUGE. Lots of agencies use Glocks too but I put them lower on the list than a SIG, so it is what it is.

I find lots of people get attached to guns because its what they own. I give my opinion based on repairing them, and real world experience outside of a small personal sampling.

Theres lots of people that love the 1911 too, lots of emotional attachment. I have several too, and I can make them run like a top, but you would NEVER catch me trusting one with my life. They are too finnicky. At any given moment our repair cabinet is filled with 75% 1911's from all but the most expensive manufacturers (We dont get Nighthawk, Les Baer, Wilsons in for problems) The tuned 1911 might be acurate, they might have great triggers, but they can shit the bed faster than a Taurus. The old G.I. guns that rattle dont have these problems for the most part, the reliability problems strted whwn people started to "improve" them

I dont make these comments to piss people off, Im just telling the truth, and the truth is not many get the chance to experience what I do. If you were a mechanic and fixed a certain model all of the time wouldnt you be hesistant about buying one? This is why I am like I am.

I can only give my advice, I cant make people listen.

    I respect your advise.
I've never personally had more than one issue with my Sigs so I'm not too worried.
I will put shooting an HK on the top of my list and who knows from there...

    thanks clandestine

You seem to have really good taste, so I dont think you will be disapointed, if its not for you they hold their value well, so youll be able to recover from it fast.

One caveat though, if the gun (HK) dosent fit you then you wont be able to use it to its fullest. Im not sure on your training but if you havent had a chance to get some hands on live training then buy a Magpul Handgun, Todd Jarret, Clint Smith, or Jerry Miculek DVD. Lots of good info. I personally like the way Magpul teaches, even if its a little "intense"

Im becoming a HUGE fan of S&W M&P pistols, they have great ergos and are very reliable too. SIG and HK still have an edge over them. I usually tell people who want a Glock to consider the M&P first.

Im also a big fan of the XDM pistols. I usually steer people to those if they are considering a SIG.

If someone cant afford a SIG or HK the FNP handguns are some of the most underrated handguns on the market.
