I understand that, I'm kind of stuck with them right now so if they force me what can I do? What other recourse do I have? I've read the transfer process on their site and it, doesn't mention the lock at all whether you have to buy one or make sure you bring one they're closed until after the holiday.Just remember NOTHING in the statute COMPELS a shop to sell you the lock. The statute simply says the lock must be WITH the gun when sold.
Exactly but according to them I cannot bring my own approved lock and that I must purchase one from them when purchasing a gun whether new or used.
It's their store, their business & their rules...
You won't change their mind...
Buy somewhere else (or drive yourself crazy)...
You are in the driver's seat...

I ran into this in Bass pro, even told me the law requires it. I left.Ive bought, cough, a handgun or two from United and they are good people. Bring your own lock you should be fine. Dealers that ignore the lock you bring and force you to buy one are not interested in a second sale. United thrives on repeat business. Be sure not to look at any of their consignments either they are very hard on your wallet.

I did 17 bucks, you guys have the greatest names for things lolYou can find them on Flea Bay cheap, sometimes.
It's also easily removed with a super cheap set of diagonal cutters or any other sharp item given a little time.

I know this is old but, the gun I'm waiting on is a Smith & Wesson and comes with a red cable key lock. Is this not sufficient to meet this standard?
I don't understand why this lock doesn't meet the external definition. It stops the gun from firing and it's keyed.
Yeah I just thought it was interesting the guys from Maryland and he opened it with a Bic pen. That's pretty easily defeatedYes I understand how the Omega lock works, I own several of them. I was responding to where you said:
and
The cable lock is easily defeated by a pair of cheap diagonal cutters which is why it's not adequate per Maryland's requirements.
