Both are very nice. Going to need a new mortgage to pay your taxidermist.

Also, you burned up your luck for a couple years now. This is one of those weekends that you talk about for the rest of your life, because you will most likely never see a weekend like this again. Heck, most of us will never experience a weekend like you just did.

Thank you. You are right, and I haven't quite explained to the wife what this is gonna cost us (me.)

I know I got more than my share this round. My luck was bound to turn - I spent more days in the woods last year than the prior 2 combined, and brought home 0.0 deer. This year, I'm out of buck tags. Go figure.

    Congratulations!

I have property in Virginia’s Northern Neck where dog hunting is prevalent. The dog hunters really mess up the pattern of the deer for still and stand hunters. You were very lucky.

This property in Accomack is surrounded by land leased by the dog club. When they are running, it definitely changes how we hunt ours.

My season started off slow this year, early muzzloader was slow. Bow season, only had small bucks around, the bigger bucks I saw were out of bow range. Things changed up a bit for me. Took a nice 9 point in West Virginia Friday on public land. (Page 36). Then tonight dropped the hammer on this guy. (Saw him early bow hunting)

Nice buck! One of these days I'm going to stop having kids and find time to get out in the woods. Hopefully a buck like that will be waiting for me :lol2:

Thanks! I’ve never had a year where I harvested two great bucks in a week’s time. From two states also.
It can be easily explained. Some of my luck rubbed off on you. That's gonna cost you one fishing trip.

Not my deer, but my 14 year old son’s. That’s even better, has I’d rather him, or any kid for that matter, harvest a deer than I. He took this deer, this past Sunday, at his grandfather’s woodlot. He and I don’t normally hunt there during rifle season, mostly only during muzzleloader. Saturday’s rain basically had us flooded out on the farm we were going to hunt, so we changed plans. He’s sure glad we did! One shot kill, he didn’t go 30 yards. I’m a very proud father. He was using his much loved Savage Axis in 243.

That's awesome. The deer looks twice his size, if not more.

The spread on that rack is impressive. Is it just me, or do the bucks being harvested this year in MD insofar as what we see posted on MDS look a bit larger than past years? Obviously it's not a scientific sampling, and people will tend to show the largest deer they might successfully bag/tag (especially for the deer hunting machines in these threads), but wow, there have been a lot of Wisconsin sized deer in this thread this year.

Thanks! It was a pretty nice sized deer. My son is just a little over 100 pounds. My FIL doesn’t have any scales there to weigh the deer, but it most definitely outweighed my son. Lol
On a side note fidelity, I will never forget your generosity a few years ago, when you gave me a buck 110 knife, to give to my son. If you remember we hunt a lot of small game as well. He has used it on small game, but I’m still fielding dressing his deer. Let’s see how things go, next season might be his season to do it himself. He learned to filet fish this pass summer, and he caught on quickly.
