I ask a question , how many people are soured to the BS of the process that don't apply ?? The infringements that our state brings down on us in a God given right to protect ourselves . SMH

I gave up my permit when they made it criminal to carry outside of the vague restrictions. A conviction for a gun crime would ruin my life.
I think the potential issue here is much wider than presently anticipated. There are many meds with multiple uses. The class of drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction were originally developed to treat heart conditions. I had a friend prescribed an antidepressant to help him quit smoking. I'm sure the list is very long. Does this mean that ANY drug that has EVER been prescribed for a mental health condition will require a doctor's note? And have troopers been trained as pharmacists? How about if the patient's doctor is anti 2A? Can the doctor decline to cooperate in the process in support of their political leanings?
Yes, I caved, thanks for throwing that out there. And this is what the MSP go for people on the fence that don't want to put up with their BS and cave in .
When i first asked 1 question about getting a permit in Maryland many many years ago at a gun shop i was discouraged so much i waited another 10 years before i even applied .
It took a few crimes against my business to get me rolling again , you see i ask the gun shop guy if he could tell me how easy or hard it was to get a permit and his answer was " Are You God " a feeble answer at best and yet this answer came from a so called friendly 2A business .
Very disappointing to say the least , for folks that can apply please do so add to the numbers of law abiding citizens . Don't take no as an answer , somebodies denial could be the crack in the Armour of the state of Maryland which is still a giant shit-hole the liberals run & ruined .
Given your story in the gun shop and the fact I have heard the same many many times from most everyone in this state I would guess the answer to your question is a very high percentage.I ask a question , how many people are soured to the BS of the process that don't apply ?? i renewed just before this came to be and I haven't carried since and I'm not renewing my permit for the same reason.
Guys... just NO...
Even if you never carry a peashooter...
DON’T SURRENDER
Get/keep the permit... carry it with you everywhere.
Every person who is harassed into giving in... is one less person in the number of permitted persons in the state.
And to those who get restricted permits... PLEASE keep and carry them... even if you can’t carry 24/7/365+1.
The enemy LOVES seeing folks give up due to frustration that they cause and promote.
Don’t allow them that pleasure.
So my wife and i are going through the process for our carry permits. The Interview went a littler weird but none the less its done. MSP decided to do use together. A week and a half went by and the MSP called me and said they did not get a list of my wife's meds yet. I found that strange cause i watched her send the email. So i called her to confirm and like i thought she did in fact send the email 20 minutes after the interview. Call MSP back and yes it was in his spam folder. So that held us up. But they said ok everything is good to go....two hours later they call back and say I am good to go But my wife needs a letter from her doctor about just one of her prescriptions. I said ok! Now i talked to my wife and she began to get upset as to why that was necessary and with our business being as busy as it is work 18 hours a day where is she going to have time to go to the doctor and ask for a letter to support her state of mind...i am guessing is what they need. And how to even ask for that? What do you say? Is this something the doctor might be familiar with? At this point she is so stressed out from the process she wants to pull her App. But i am afraid that will look bad and or look bad for me too. So if there is anyone who went thought this...i am requesting some guidance.

This was the same back in 2009 when I was going to apply with my photography business. That was when I met the psychologist who said "I won't write a letter, it's not that I think you are dangerous, I just don't think anyone should have a gun."
I’m in agreement with most comments about Maryland’s permit issues. What I’m not in agreement with is opposing the medical screening for prescription drugs.
There are numerous SSRI’s that are clearly linked to suicidal behaviors and violence towards others. Drugs like Prozac, Effexor, Paxil and Luvox can have 10 times the rate of violence. ADHD drugs like Strattera and amphetamines can be just as bad. The anti-smoking medication Chantix has 18 times the rate of psychotic violence. From personal experience being prescribed Ambien for sleep, that medication can be extremely dangerous which is why I stopped taking it.
All these drugs are not a problem for all people but there are significant numbers where it warrants asking questions. The 2nd Amendment never envisioned the problems with prescription drugs and our side needs to recognize the need for some areas of common sense. If you abuse alcohol/illegal drugs or take medications that are problematic for you, I'm sorry but you should NOT carry. Just my 2 pennies. Peace!
