Apparently, the rumors are true: CZ imported 150 polished stainless steel P-01's (aka SP-01 Compact) and they hit GB like an H-bomb. According to reports, they all went to one distributor. SKU #91197.

    Yikes.

I wish that I would have discovered CZ's sooner. When I bought my first handgun, a Glock 19 , in 2008 I never even considered any other type of pistol. Anytime I went into a place to look at any handguns I allways went straight to the Glocks. Wound up buying 5 of them before I tried a friends CZ 75 last year. I just picked up my third CZ pistol last week, a SP-01 tactical. I love em. I like the rifles too.

I am on my second. I have a Cz50 and just got an 82 a few weeks ago. At some point I will hunt down a 75. I’ve shot my wife’s uncles and love it.

IMHO, my Glock 17 is a better all around “combat” pistol than any of the above mentioned, but I sure love shooting a 50, 82 and 75 more than my G17.

Is BBP a distributor now? Hehehe.
That is slick. What were they going for?

I looked that quick. They're there on GB for $780-1000!

They're trying to say that only 150 were imported. Duh huh. Can you say, price-gouging? Just like they built only 2000 of the 40th Anniversary CZ-75 back in 2015. Turned-out that they built 2000 with one style of grips, another 2000 with another style of grips, etc. etc. When it was all said and done, there were nearly 8000 of the 40th Anniversary CZ-75's and the bottom fell out of any perceived value.

I'll be interested when they come out with either a matte or brushed stainless version of it.

    SP-01 Shadow Orange Custom

    nN12Bp0.jpg

SP-01 Shadow Orange. CZ-USA sent a couple dozen of them to Angus Hobdell and the crew at CZ Custom in AZ to work their magic on.

    Z2uXAm5.jpg

Comes with 18, 16, and 13lb. springs, tools, guide rod buffers, speed loader, lube in a plastic box about the size of a briefcase. It's an amazing package that I feel very honored for the opportunity to own.

Almost forgot about this skeet outing with a friend on a gray day some years ago. He could really make his CZ SxS sing. Not a clay was safe.
Love the framing of this shot, especially with the clay (if I'm using the right term) being impacted in the distance.

Wow, this looks like a special gun. Pre-Angus customization, what's the big difference between the Shadow and the Shadow 2? Is it a size thing, or is the Shadow 2 an evolved design that's considered superior when comparing both pistols base configuration?

Thank you, yes, anything CZ Custom puts their name on is pretty special.

The main difference is that the original Shadow is built on the SP-01 frame. The Shadow 2's frame is almost identical to a Tanfoglio Stock 3 and is slightly larger and heavier than the Shadow SP-01. They also have entirely different grip angles.

I don't think the Shadow 2 is considered superior. It's just different. Historically, the original Shadow has won more IPSC Production Matches around the world than any other pistol. That may change over time but, I haven't noticed many IPSC shooters switching to the Shadow 2. Most seem to still prefer the Shadow SP-01's lighter weight, superior balance and availability of aftermarket holsters and accessories.

google is your friend, I am not.
A little off topic, but can you get a threaded barrel for the Shadow2?

Bar-sto makes one. You'll have to fit it.

Cajun gun works lists thier SP-01 barrel as working with a Shadow as well. Mine looks like it will work in my Shadow but it is fitted to my SP-01 so I'm not messing with it..

    https://cajungunworks.com/product/04200-sp-01-threaded-barrel-9mm/

Shadow barrel is longer than SP-01, so my guess is that the SP-01 threaded barrel wont fit. SP-01 is 4.6", shadow IIRC is 5." Shadow might be thicker barrel too.

This might fit, if its the correct length (says "shadow" so I think so). https://czcustom.com/czc-barrel-threaded-9mm-75-sp01.html

ALL CZ barrels require fitting. I just got a threaded barrel for my SP-01, it rocks.

It’s no shadow 2, but this is my second CZ, first steel gun, first hammer fired gun, first DA/SA, and I’m quite excited. Big thanks to the guys at 2A, I will definitely be back!

I won't even try to upstage the new Hickok45/CZ Shadow 2 video but, let me tell ya, this SP-01 Shadow Orange Custom is in a class all by itself. I've owned a lot of really accurate 1911's and revolvers during the last 4 decades, have shot in more bowling pin, steel plate and IHMSA matches than I care to remember and it takes something pretty extraordinary to knock my socks off these days. This pistol managed to do that.

10 yards, S&B 124gr FMJ and Geco 124gr FMJ: 25 rounds each target

Because I only had two boxes of Geco and one box of S&B to function test with, I decided to just get a feel for POI and started at 10 yards on silhouette targets. As expected, it was almost too easy to keep them all in the red. My only excuses for the couple that didn't are too much coffee and too much adrenaline. Besides having the best trigger I've ever felt on a CZ pistol, the slide-to-frame fit is so smooth that the noise you normally associate with racking a slide...it just isn't there. It's like butter.

Trying to hit that little green dot in the center at 10 yards proved to be a challenge that I scored about 50% hits on out of 20 rounds. I'll take it for the first time out, though.

My initial impressions after 150 flawless rounds downrange is that I like it. I like it more than my Shadow 2's. The 7oz. weight differential is a big deal for me. The SP-01 Shadow feels much better balanced overall than the Shadow 2, which feels front-heavy and unbalanced by comparison. The Shadow Orange also has that more familiar and comfortable CZ-75 grip angle that I'm so used to. The Shadow 2 is an incredible pistol and probably the most accurate handgun I've ever seen straight out of the box but, given the choice, there's no question about which one I think is more fun to shoot.
