Did you try MdARNG? Maybe see if you could get the range and some support at Gunpowder MR? They may even let you camp out there or run some concurrent training like land navigation.

Were you guys at Klondike. Im with the 483 out of Sliver Run. MD. We had the 4 man sky challenge. I was the one with the OD boonie on.

Im a rifle instructor also and was hoping I could train my troop or at least my own kids for their badge but I was told it had to be at a BS camp.

No, we did not do Klondike. We were under the impression I could teach MB for troop. The NRA training was set up for me and paid for by troop to that end. I guess I need to check on that as well.:sad20:

Those lucky kids of troop 75!
When I was in the PG County boy scouts, troop 1776(about 20 years ago) the most we did was make little wooden race cars and clay dinosaurs. It was a sad and pathetic experience for me because I was hoping so much to go on scout camping trips and maybe have some educational outdoor activities. I wanted to do some of that stuff in the boy scout book like learn about survival and we never did anything like that. I don't remember any scouts even getting any kind of badges.

Our troop was winter camping Dec 5/6 when we had the snow, I missed that one:innocent0. Everybody stayed warm and had fun. Giant snowfort/ snowball fight.
May we are doing a rescue weekend. Going to Broadcreek, putting 4 adults out in the woods with mock injuries. Groups of scouts must find the adult, identify and treat injuries then get them out of the woods. This will be a first, we'll see how it goes.

I am an Eagle Scout and occasional scout leader (when time permits).

Follow these to the letter and the BSA's insurance will cover you:
    http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/HealthandSafety/GSS/gss08.aspx#b

It is not mentioned but I believe there is a BSA or NRA standard for ratio of instructors to # of shooters on the line.

The older versions of the guide specifically forbade semi-auto rifles and tube feed magazines. Bolt action repeaters were allowed, if the magazines were removed.

Older versions of the guide also recommended semi-auto gas guns for shotgun shooting for recoil reduction, but did not require them.

Please do come to a Monumental meeting and join! Two club members just became NRA training counselors and are working to certify other club members to conduct club events for Women on Target and Wounded Warrior.

    Thanks,

I wanted to get into Monumental because of the youth program. Both my kids shoot plus the scouting thing.

They do have the best youth program in the AGC. As a former member of Monumental, my son was involved. (I am now in Garrison since most of my trap buddies are in Garrison.) Also I believe that you do not have to be in Monumental to have kids in their youth program.

    Good luck.

It was 30 some years ago, but in PG , T251 we did all the interesting things. At least one campout or hike per month. Rifle range at Goshen Scout Camp (Camp Ross)(week long in summer).
Once upon a decade I was a Rifle & Shotgun merit Badge Counsler, among others. But we didn't have all those stinkin' rules.

I loved those days of being a boy scout we went to northern Maine and got or shooting badge..

The swimming badge was no fun though in a lake at about 45 degree water..never forget some of the kids crying about the cold

AT summer camp, we always participate in the "polar bear swim", get all boys up at 6:30am go jump in the pool before breakfast. That's usually the only way to wash some of the funk off.:lol2: some of those little skinny kids really did'nt like that.
