Buyer from MD, seller from NC. Is there anything that needs to happen paperwork wise to transfer the gun to me?

Looking to finalize this asap

Must go through an FFL in the buyer's state, unless the buyer will be travelling.
Bottom line, an FFL is required for out of state sales.

Not true. The seller in NC can ship it directly to the FFL in MD w/o a NC FFL.

Biggest point to make is to do the transfer legally , no reason or no excuse . FFL is the only way .

OP- Make arrangements with the receiving MD FFL before having the firearm shipped. Different FFL's have different rules.
EX: My FFL won't do transfers for new firearms they regularly have sitting in their case.

You are correct. I have found some MD ffls only accept from another FFL...just do it legal and legit. Always.

You can't. I know this because I live in NC and sell guns for a living.

Make it easy and legal and have it shipped to an FFL in MD that will accept transfers from individuals

if buyer and seller reside in different states, a FFL MUST be involved, no face to face, a background check is mandatory. if this is a long gun, you should be able to go down there, meet at a ffl and have the ffl run a background check on you and take possession of the gun there (as long as everything is legal in both MD and NC). if a handgun, basically the seller has to ship to (or bring to) a MD FFL and you go there for paperwork and background check.
