    Just wondering what everyone uses.

    I fish fresh water

My main setup is a Abu Garica Veritas 2.0 7ft rod with a Abu Garcia Silver Max Baitcaster. I normally keep 12lb mono line on it.

My other rigs are some shorter old school (15-20 year old?) shakespeare rods both of them have shimano sienna FE spinning reels, one a 1500 for super light duty, normally run 6lb mono line, and the other a 2500 with 8lb mono line.

I'm thinking about replacing one of those older rods with a
Denali Pryme Spinning Rod. Dicks currently has them for $49.99 + $10 off if you order online.

    I also wear a hat.
long sleve shirts with collar popped.

I down sized from a proper tackle box and went with an Ozark bag.

Life is so much easier now that I can throw it over my shoulder and forget about it.

Helps when hauling 2 kids with me.

    What are you guys using?

For my baitcasters I go with 20# braid. Fluorocarbon on on my spinning reels.

I use mostly Penn spinning style reels and rod in general. 6-7ft in fresh water then 10-12 for surf.

Off topic, I bought my son a nice Abu Garcia bait caster. He played with it for 15 minutes and gave up. If anyone is interested in a trade let me know. It's literally as new sitting on a spare rod.

Don't you want a reel for the rod? Or did you put it on a spinning rod? What model/size is it?

I put a spinning reel on his Abu rod and he's been happy ever since. The rod it's sitting on is a crappy spare. I'd entertain any reasonable trade reel or rod.

10' Daiwa Emblem Surf with a Penn Battle II real for at the Conowingo Dam.

2 Penn Fierce rods/reels for live-lining perch from the boat.

Couple old Shakespeare level winds for trolling.

Around 20 random spinning rigs for various other situations.

Not big on bait casters, but have a few though rarely use them except for tossing spinnerbaits.

Same reel I currently use. Sadly I don't have a use for it since I'm already setup with one. It would be a great pickup for anyone wanting to try a baitcaster.

What did you have in mind trade wise?

For freshwater and light saltwater, I prefer Ugly Stik rods of various lengths and actions depending on what I am fishing for, and Shimano bait caster spinning reels.
Surf- I love my St.Croix rods and Shimano set ups. Also have a Penn 850S (iIRC) on a St.Croix.

All rods are kayak rods, so I don't go heavy. Big fish and you get towed.

    Freshwater (Bass and smaller)
Medium light spinning rod/reel with 15# braid and 10# leaders

    Salt/Larger freshwater
Medium spinning rod/reel with 30# braid and 17# leaders

I use a crate to carry all my stuff and I probably have 10- 12 plano boxes and just take the boxes with the lures I want. 1 is all jigs and hooks, 1 is 1/2, 3/4 1oz striper jigs, 1 spinner baits, 1 small cranks, 1 inline spinners, 1 medium cranks, 1 deep diving plugs and so on.

I have an Abu Garcia pro series baitcaster but its so damn smooth that it often causes issues. I use that when im on a boat and bass fishing.

About 5 years ago I bout a quantum energy and really that's my go to. Have it set up on a bass pro 6 1/2 foot medium action. for that I tend to use 10lb Power Pro. Most of my fishing is not done on rocks so I am not concerned with the fraying.

Lately everything has been on a quantum micro lite just for fun, but I've only been out twice this year.

    Hey

    Fresh water - light use

Penn Fierce reel on a 5' 6" ugly stick. Trilene Fire line 8lb test line

    Heavy

Same reel with a 7' ugly stick and 12lb. pretty stiff used for salmon and other larger species. Depending on what I'm after and style of fishing go with an older Penn 520SS (heavier reel)

    Salt/Surf

Shakespeare set up bought on sale BPS. 8'-9' (?) with some reel & 20lb trilene big game. Good enough for my use.

I was planning on buying a nicer replacement rod for my short old school light weight setup. After getting some of the fishing rods in my hands I ended up going with the field and stream inferno 5'6. $24.99. Imo it feels better than the ugly stik gx2 which is what my son uses. I like the narrow handle and the stiffer back.

It feels like an awesome rod for the money. Super easy to cast over hand, back hand, side hand under hand. Great Lake/pound woods/tree rod.
