So I have my .30 cal can picked out and now I need to finalize what .22 can to get. I want to be able to put it on a bolt gun and whack squirrels while I'm deer hunting and only hear the bullet hit the squirrel. :D Also looking for repeatable POI. I have heard that the user serviceable .22 cans can have POI shift after taking them apart and putting them back on due to the baffles not being the same alignment every time. The one I am leaning towards right now is the Thunder Beast Take Down. Anybody have first hand experience with a quite .22 suppressor with repeatable POI after cleaning? Thanks

I have been shooting .22 suppressed for a long time. I haven't really had any issues with any kind of poi shift after cleaning my can. There is a difference with and without the can. I have a TAC-65.

The big thing with 22 cans is baffle stack or monocore. Monocore are slightly louder and easier to clean, but a soda blaster which any 22 can owner should invest in IMHO makes short work of baffles or monocore.

FWIW, I have had the itch to get a new 22 can lately. I will probably go with a Minuteman Ti from Freedom Armory. All titanium for durability and light as a feather. Baffle stack for the best noise reduction. They are 600 retail. Definitely on the high end of the price spectrum for 22 cans, but buy once cry once. Just waiting for more to come in at work so I can put my name on one.

I have a Silencerco Sparrow and love it. No POI shift on mine, but it does have the first round pop. Now that I have this one, I really want to get a couple more so I can dedicate them to each of my 22LR hosts. I want to get the Q El Camino for my next 22 can.

Baffle stacks quieter and imho easier to clean.

I have shot more than a few .22 supressors. I own a Silencerco Spectre ii and a Dead Air Mask. Silencerco customer service is legendary. The Mask with subsonic ammo is unbelievable. All you hear is the firing pin and the bullet hit the target. Unvelievable.

Cleaning .22 supressors can be a PITA if you don't pretreat them. Easy if you do.

2A Sales has the Sparrow, Spectre II, and Surefire Ryder in stock. You should go check them out in person to help you decide.

The Mask looks very promising. wish Silencer Shop carried them.

Unless they're gonna let me take them out and shoot them I don't think that will do me much good.

I have a Dead Air Mask HD in jail right now.

If I was ordering one now instead of a year ago, it would be the Rugged Oculus.

Modular cans are all the rage right now. I'm not sure I would go this route for my first or only rimfire can.

Since I already have two. The Silencerco Osprey Micro would probably be my choice. Then again, I am a bit of a Silencerco fanboy.

MSRP on these is $600. Actual retail seems to be $400-500.

Swing by my house and you can shoot the Mask (semi-pistol, FV-SR bolt action, or MP15-22). I would offer to meet you at the club but those trips are harder for me to pull off these days.

The dealer I bought mine from in Baltimore has more of them. $424 out the door was what I paid.

THAT SAID - get on Silencershop and buy the Oculus. In a month it will be sitting at our local dealers place as opposed to driving up to Baltimore.

Why not? I honestly don't know that I see a downside to the Oculus. It's serviceable, good materials, etc just like the Mask and the Spectre. The modularity thing is an added benefit that I don't see the downside of.

Pssst.... the Osprey Micro is modular. :P

    OP:

There are a ton of good choices out there right now. Last year I was looking at the SiCo Spectre and then the Dead Air Mask hit the market. A little newer, etc, so that's what I ordered. And now the Rugged Oculus and the Q Erector are here. The great news is that they are ALL good choices, and they can all be had for around $400.

+1 on the Spectre II. Shooting the CCI quiets the loudest thing is the firing pin hitting. FRP is negligible and like someone said, rated for 5.7 and 22mag.

    I have 2 Spectre 2's for a reason.
Stay away from anything aluminum. It is a PIA to clean. I would get baffles over a mono core due to less FRP. The Mask is great choice as well. Of all the 22 cans available to me, the ones that get used the most are in order, Spectre 2, Mask and Freedom Amory Minute Man. If you find a Spectre or Mask in stock. don't hesitate. The sound difference is almost impossible to discern.
You will giggle like a school girl the first time you shoot subs out of a 22 bolt with either can.

I do not see any advantages to the OPs intended use on a bolt gun.

I wonder if a bolt gun really needs 5-6" worth of suppressor to quiet down? He can run the short model on the bolt gun and the long with pistols down the road.

And the short one on a rifle won't make it feel like such a musket!

One thing that killed the Osprey micro is having to buy adapters for each host.

But in all seriousness I really like it. Performed great for me on semi auto rifles and pistols, as well as bolt action. Slim design, easy to take apart/clean and affordable. That's all I could have asked for.

another vote for the Axiom . I have 2 in jail now, but got to shoot a friends and that was the deciding factor. The Dead air Mask is also a very good unit.
