Link to subsequent article from last month:

    http://accesswdun.com/article/2017/...untary-manslaughter-in-death-of-helen-tourist

"Glenn Patrick Lampien, 55, was found guilty on the two counts ... of involuntary manslaughter"

No mention of alcohol consumption, however, the article states "The jury found Lampien not guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, and a count of involuntary manslaughter by discharge of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol."

So the guy took out his gun while sitting on a bench out in public? I wonder what that was about?

    You did.

It amazes me as how some folks on this forum feel that if something is not done to their liking that they can then tell others how they want it done. Kinda reminds me of a liberal mindset.

Simple rule, don't want to read it in depth then don't click the link, you wasted more energy trying to tell someone what to do than just letting people decide for themselves if they wanted to read more.

"Be safe" isn't much of a "summary of the article in your own words." But ok, we all do it, hundreds of links, without descriptions, no biggie. And I wasn't lecturing, that guidance is from the forum rules just a reminder, answering the question.

I try to provide brief summaries, and I appreciate it when others do.

.22 shot through the hand is still lethal at distance.
    Eddie Eagle was right.

Didn't NRA recently update/refresh the Eddie Eagle thing, new eagle, better cartoons, etc? Wish the article had mentioned something favorable about the NRA.

I learned last night that the NRA is helping Maryland tremendously on several fronts. Thanks for the updates and great legal info Mark (if you ever read this); my club thoroughly enjoyed having you speak at our meeting. :)

on a serious side it only takes 300 ft/s for a projectile to penetrate/kill you. We all have to remember that our bodies are built like squishy cantaloupes it doesn't take much.

    Here, I'll make it easier:

    from the article:
HELEN, Ga. -- A man is in custody charged with involuntary manslaughter after authorities say his gun accidentally went off and killed a woman from Texas.

In a release, the GBI says it happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday on North Main Street in Helen.

The GBI says Glenn Patrick Lampien, 54, of Jasper was sitting on a bench near the King Ludwig Biergarten when he pulled a small caliber gun from his pocket.

The gun went off, shooting Lampien through the hand, and then hitting May Araim, 68 of Texas. Araim was across the street. She died at the scene.

The GBI says Lampien did have a carry license for the gun.

So, he pulled a legally concealed pistol from his pocket, in public, and negligently discharged it wounding himself and killing an innocent citizen. Epic fail, for lots of reasons. But I bet there's more to this story. Time will tell, I betcha.
