After weekend bloodbath, Chicago police chief makes surprising admission about city’s tough gun laws
    http://www.theblaze.com/news/2016/1...prising-admission-about-citys-tough-gun-laws/
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said during a news conference on Monday that most of the shootings between Friday evening and Sunday evening were “targeted attacks” by gang members going after rival gang members who were gathered for Christmas and holiday parties. The Chicago Tribune reported 90 percent of those fatally shot were involved in gang activities, had criminal histories or were previously known to police.

The deaths bring to more than 750 the number of gun-related deaths in Chicago just this year. As ABC News also noted, it’s the first time in more than two decades that Chicago has seen more than 700 people die in a single year as a result of gun violence.

...“These gun offenders have repeatedly shown us that they’re not going to play by society’s rules,” the police superintendent told WLS-TV.

As a result, Johnson is now calling for repeat offenders to face tougher penalties for crimes they commit.

Its libtards what do you expect? They have been doing "Hug-A-Thug" for the last 25 years and the city has gone to $hit. Now they are going to get tough! My A$$. Next year they will kill the same or more. Libtards never learn! Blame guns, blame schools, blame the cops and play the race card. Nothing will change.

Sweet Jesus...what took him sooo long??

Why rush it? They are doing to each other what the police can't do... 90% success rate at that.

If He could figure out how to get that to 100 they would just lower the crime penalties and let them kill themselves off.... but that 10% is a painful reminder... especially when kids shot.

I heard on TV last night that it's Indiana's fault.

Yeah, that makes sense. Just blame all them "military style assault weapons" flowin' in from other states where such political incorrectness is allowed.

    They can't.

IIRC, in the areas of IL where carry is now common, crime has gone down.

Mind you, it's been a year or so since I saw any details, so...

That's an important point. I vaguely remember something about a big city police chief (Chicago?, Detroit?) encouraging citizens to get ccw permits and carry to defend themselves. I wonder if this 'high encouragement' happened in certain districts/areas; if so any data like you suggest of the crime rate actually going down would be invaluable.

I'll take a quick look at John Lott's (crime researcher) latest updates and see if he is commenting on this sudden 'revelation' in Chicago.

I'm beginning to think John Lott has not commented on this latest Chicago decision to actually do something about crime.

The more I look at this crime research . org website, the more I like it. Easy to follow, good articles and debunks a lot of the misinformation the anti-gun people have been spreading for years. Highly recommend everyone check it out and spread the word: http://crimeresearch.org/
