As the title says, just won my clubs raffle!!!!

Two rifles, a Henry 357, choice of finish, and a Ruger American choice of 22-250, 243, 30 06, and 308.

I'm thinking 22-250 for the Ruger.

Henry I'm leaning towards the Silver receiver over blued or brass. I have a Henry in 3030 brass. Very impressed by the look of the new silver model! A bronze nickel alloy they claim has the tensile strength of steel.

Can't go wrong with any, but thoughts?

    Congrats.

I had to look up the 22-250, and it's characteristics seem pretty cool. Sounds like a great varmint to coyote round, traveling faster than a military 5.56 round with a similar sized bullet.

What will the Henry be used for? If the long rifle, then a brass or silver receiver looks better. If a carbine to stick in the trunk of the car, then steel receiver might be nice. Any flexibility on the Henry caliber? They also sell 41 Mag and 44 Mag rifles in the same configurations for the same price point. A 41 Mag option is starting to gain appeal with me, not that I want another caliber, but the performance of the round is attractive.

Yes I like the 22-250 potion too. should be a fun caliber to learn!

Mostly a range queen on the Henry, and its limited to 357. That's ok because it matches my revolvers. I do take it into the woods when I'm on the upper peninsula Mi. Coyote, bobcat, occasional bear kind of woods. Elk or Moose will leave you alone up there.

NOW I saw where they make an all weather Stainless steel model!!! sheesh!!

Dude, you're from the UP? Always felt that Wisconsin should have annexed the UP or it should have been made into its own state (e.g. North Michigan or North Wisconsin). I'm obviously from Wisconsin having these territorial ambitions.

Yeah the Henry all weather models are attractive and reminiscent of the Taylor Alaskan series (rebranded Chiappas). Other than the ammo loading difference, the neat thing about the Alaskan series (being based on Browning designs) is that there's a takedown option.

I'm from Cecil county, but I go there every year several times a year. My in laws are from there so I've been adopted for 30 years ;) . Craziest place around!
The more I think of it, the more I like the SS all weather version. I usually pack an AR up there and a 357s. I used my Henry brass 3030 there too on occasion. It would be nice to have me or someone packed with this Henry too! Besides, that stainless is so nice looking!

Forgot to mention. UP used to be part of Wisconsin! Early 1800's I think, Ohio was crying because they didn't have a port (MI and OH actually raised militia and took potshots at each other over this land), so the feds gave them a 4 mile stretch of land that included the port of Toledo.....
To appease Michigan, they took the UP land from Wisconsin and gave it to Michigan!!!
