2A Tuesday

Someone give me a reason to attend this year. Last year was the first one I was able to make and I was underwhelmed to say the least. If I'm adjusting my work schedule to make it I'd like to hear about more than Nerf gun safety and Polar Bear plunges.

I would prefer a later date, but still enjoy the event. I will be there unless something pops up at work that is critical.

So far it's all quiet on the eastern front. Given the new makeup of the GA, Mike & Mike need to re-establish control. But they know we'll be pushing too, so I am sure that there will be skulduggery afoot.

What's on the agenda ? Both sides will keep their powder dry until late January. So, mark your calendar, dust off your signs. and, be prepared. The worst that could happen would be snow-geddon.

I hate to say Stoveman has a certain point.

I convinced my wife to go, carpooled with others. Had a good afternoon. Meeting people, etc.

Until I ventured into meet the Annapolis staff. The contempt on their faces was palpable. They couldn't wait for us leave. No facts would fix this... In this aspect it was a waste of time. They had minds made up.

The time well spent was meeting other 2A supporters.

I missed this year due to our son (who is in the air force) wanted to go see his Grandma in NC. 2014 wife and i went even with our daughter getting hit by a car in the morning , 2015 we had the snow and ice but still made it . Does our presence change anything ? I dont think so but I go just as the soldiers roughed it out in Valley Forge they fought through overwhelming odds to succeed remember this is a "war" and win lose or draw each battle is important to the over all outcome

Having 2A Tuesday as a stand alone event is tough. It is much better when we have bills to testify for the same day. I know this is very difficult because the committee chairs like to f with us and make it as difficult for us to attend the hearings, but we need to sacrifice to show our true influence and power.

I also think we need MORE! The event last year, bookended by praise for a polar bear plunge was pathetic. We need to make some waves and show our true power and what we are capable of. It may be a little uncomfortable, but it needs to be done.

Who here on this site is part of the planning? What are the plans so far?

2A Tuesday is the main rallying day, but I am sure that Rack and the 2A Patriots have multiple events in the planning stages.

As Glaron noted, "the contempt on their faces was palpable. They couldn't wait for us leave", but that was because of the public shaming the had to endure leading up to 2A Tuesday ... and I dare say that those events went a long way in affecting how Mike & Mike's 'subjects' voted.

Glaron is right that no amount of facts will convince those two die-hard gun-grabbers ... but public shaming took them down a notch or two. Plan to join us for more fun ... because it was fun ya know,

This year needs to be big, there's a new Sheriff in Washington, D.C. and we have a pro 2A Governor, let's act like our side won and give Hogan and the R's in the MGA some cover fire.

Nobody left last year's event fired up and ready to rumble. This is a street fight not a cocktail party. Having an Average Joe meeting with Delegate Wipe My Ass With the Constitution doesn't move the chains.

I would like to suggest we strategize an offensive attack during or after the MSI meeting on Jan 7, We need to be prepared to recommend candidates to run against Miller & Bush and bills we would like introduced. With other states, most recently Ohio, allowing student concealed carry we should request the same for MD students. It's time we put the legislature on defense.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, move it to a Monday. Why?

The floor session doesn't start until 8:00 PM (Yep, you read that right)
The legislators don't start showing up in their offices until around 6:00 PM (1800 for us military types)

That would do two things;
1) Make it easier for more people to show up without having to blow a day off, and thus (Maybe/hopefully) saving the hoops to jump through for a day off for a bill hearing day.
2) Give the 2A community time to rally and then face time with their elected officials before they go to the floor session, and maybe a little time after as well.
3) did I mention make it easier for more people to show up...

I have no clue what it would be called other than 2A advocacy day, but I will leave that up to those planning anything.

Exactly. If nothing else, it should be an opportunity to point out to them that although they might be "big shots" in control of their own little pinhead world of Maryland, they and Maryland are out of step with the country -- as their own "hero" O'Mao proved beyond a reasonable doubt after their 2013 2A evisceration efforts to propel him into national fame garnered him a full (almost) 1% of support among national Democrats, in his own party primaries.

They need to learn that they are the out-of-step freaks on the national stage, living in an echo chamber, surreal bubble of their own creation, and we're there to pop it.

All points so far have merit.

As for the attendance? It is directly proportional to the perceived threat. Last year, the GA didn't throw a lot at us, and they held off until later to do it. It's proof, IMO, that they know we're here and not going away.

"Our" effort should be multifaceted. The .orgs have a role to play from a nonpartisan legislative perspective, yes... Last year the Rack Pack showed that a "panpartisan" effort can be effective as well.

But, I still say that the most important thing any of us can do is stay involved. Constancy is the key. Stay in communication with your critters, regardless of what side they're on. Most critically, it's as simple being there to testify on ALL bills that interest you, as possible.

Show up, stand up, speak up.

We need more signs Shaming signs. Two years ago (2014) I made and carried the lone sign at 2A Tuesday. It made WJZ-TV that night albeit only for a few seconds. Since then we have seen how effective Rack & Roll and Deep Lurker's Patriot Picket (assisted by many here including myself) has been at making the rats in Naptown and around the State scurry. If nothing else we can use an otherwise lack luster event as a canvas to paint our own messages on using signs of our choosing. They will get picked up on mass media and be spread on social media. There are some limitations on size and posts (dangerous weapons lol), but signs are permitted outside.

Also, I'd like see Maj Toure as a guest speaker. He may have to clean up the delivery a bit as we will be in public, but he has a great message and will attract a more diverse crowd.
