Just want to put this out there so if any body runs onto an ad on Craigslist or see it listed for sale anywhere please let me know.
Last night in Mt. Washington my future son in laws truck had the rear passenger door window broken out and his rifle was stolen along with his lunchbox and who knows what else.
I don't know the whys or what's, and I'm not looking to hear about his reasons for leaving it in there, he ****ed up by leaving it in there, period. Rifle was in a case under the seat so I'm guessing the lunch box was spotted and that's what led to the break in.
Remington 722 bolt action .308 brown painted wood stock with chipping paint

Hopefully someone on their street has cameras that might lead to some video of the perp(s), they've already checked their landlords video, but it's motion activated and doesn't cover out to the street.

Unless something has changed with regulations/laws, I'd recommend going to local pawn shops. Our house was burglarized in the city years ago. Most of the items were found at a nearby pawn shop by us. No firearms were taken.

I second the pawn shop idea. Couple of years ago my dad had all his hunting gear stolen out of his truck at the metro station. A week later and he just happened to be driving past and all his stuff was hanging in the window for 150 bucks.

Any pics of the rifle Buff?

I haven't asked him if he's got any pictures but I'll get one or two if he's got any.
Hopefully it turns up in a pawn shop, there can't be that many model 722's around to be pawned. Near as I can tell it was made between 1948 and 1962.

They won't go to a pawn shop. Instead they will sell it at the nearest bar. It has already been converted to crack smoke.
Your best bet is to hit the nearest five neighborhood bars and off a hundred dollar , no questions asked reward.

That really sucks, Buff. I sure hope the perp is tracked down and your future SIL gets his rifle back.

Post on Facebook too if ya haven't already. Make a general post for the public to see, post in the yard sale sections, and the gun sections(many which are closed and only members can see the posts).

I too think the rifle will be sold to someone "unofficially" without any paperwork. I hope he gets it back, but I wouldn't count on it. That sucks!

Yeah I wish the politicians would focus on the very real criminal loophole, and not the made up gun show loophole

    What paperwork?

It is a rifle. Face to face, no paperwork required.
