One of the worse decisions I ever made was to not buy two Smith & Wesson revolvers, I forget the model, that had been issued to the Greenbelt Police department. The shop owner was only sort of kidding when he pointed out I could get two of them at that low price and he had holsters, too. I said, "nah" and bought an AMT Backup in .380 and a MAK-90 instead. I sold both of those for what I paid for them, and I did enjoy them, but I suspect if I bought the revolvers I would still have them. I have a Dan Wesson .44 mag, a Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casul, and two Ruger .357s, a Security Six and a GP-100, but two more .357s wouldn't be too many.

I have an old 9-shot 22 pistol from the 50s it looks kinda like what you're talking about, I don't think it has the wavy colors like you're thinking of though. DA pull is a pain, but SA is real nice.

I eye these on GB constantly but think I'm saving for a 6 inch GP or a snubby model 49. She looks awesome though!!! I love Colts ejection mechanism for some reason. S&W is much more practical but I love the colt style

Not a nice Colt or Smith.... But I did pick up a cherry M1895 Nagant the other day. Also grabbed up a National Arms .38 S&W but no pics yet.

Mine has some finish issues on the other side, I cleaned it up the best I could, but it was only $300, so I'm happy with this one - it's a shooter grade. My first Colt revolver!

I just handled a Ruger LCR Plus in .38 Special +P. It is as light as my S&W Model 37, but it has a longer barrel and a full sized grip.

Hmm. In stock now at Summit, http://summitgunbroker.com/s-w-19.html

I do want a nice 4" in .357 to play with, but have to watch the $$ - opinions here?

I had a Taurus mod 66 .357 7 shot for years, it was a great gun. I eventually sold it and bought a S&W 686 which was double the price but the Taurus was a great plinker for years. (You'd always wish it was the Smith tho)

OK, it's a Smith, which is a good way to go, but it's a K-frame, which is a bit less robust that the L- and N-frames. If you're going to put a lot of heavy magnum loads through it, there will be some problems down the road.

If you have time and patience you can sometimes get a great deal. By way of example, I once scored a S&W pre-model 27 with the 3.5" barrel; it had been re-blued - a very good job - and had to have a new hand fitted. The whole bill came in under 700, which is nothing less than robbery, and it will last another generation or two with no trouble at all.
